OpenBay released a few weeks back with an immediate success of eager users waiting for us to sell it, which was nice in our opinion..and after a few weeks of listening to beta testers using it live, we improved almost every part of it.
Its now been put in V2 due to our update feature. One of the most requested features was surprisingly nothing to do with eBay or how it integrated with OpenCart, it was a straight forward update button allowing users of the mod to just click a button to update thier OpenBay Pro module. Its surprisingly effective! We can even control beta and live versions when we commit to the server (users cannot currently use the beta versions - but the devs can).
The concept of OpenBay isn't anything new, its been done with Magento and alot of other ecommerce platforms - but honestly they are (well, i'll just say not very good to be polite) and looks like development has stopped for alot of them.
If your an eBay seller and havn't tried your hand at your own ecommerce store, or if your an OpenCart fan but don't have an eBay store yet - OpenBay is definately for you..
At $150 its not the cheapest module out there, but considering its features and benefits the investment is certainly a drop in the ocean. We will soon be setting up subscription based profiles and make the module completely free, along with a free trial or a "lite" user, but anyone who buys the module will never be charged for a subscription (fair use policy on our API applies though!).
If you are interested in subscription based pricing please contact us and we will let you know the moment its roled out!

Users can download and install the module from the OpenCart extensions directory or existing users can use the Update button in thier admin area to get the latest release. Although existing users have been put on a loyalty plan so should not change plans!
The basic subscription is free, it allows about 30 sales per month and is perfect for everyone looking to try out the module. Additional subscription levels can be upgraded directly through the module admin area if you like it..
The installation notes and guide have also been updated and should be much easier to follow (as devs we sometimes forget not everyone else is!).

We will be allowing all of the market places evenutally but as we are still updating the language files this wont be available for a few weeks.
If you are an eBay seller from outside the US or UK and want to use the module please PM us and we will arrange it for you separately.

How do I get a sandbox token as it doesn't show this option
- Dispatch time needs to be added
Cron job option to sync stock quantities etc
Option to remove the Powered by OpenBay Pro logo & text from listing description
Bulk listing option - saving api calls
We have currently removed the sandbox system, we will be re-implimenting this but most likely on a separate server within the next few weeks.
We are looking through your suggestions on the uservoice system and will update once complete.
To end an item is only 1 call, same for updating stock.
The bulk of the usage is checking the order updates hourly, if a new order exists then more calls are used to pull the details.
Kind regards.

Everything has been thought about.. Updates via a reverse FTP (no more hacking required).. Cron isn't required as the system pushes data to you (good for a person like me that cant use "get" via cron on my server.. )
I seriously like this product and have been waiting for a system like this for just about a year! Thank god for this.
I wonder if anyone can advise. I just installed this mod, looks great and all appears to be working. However, I can't work out how to actually list an item from my opencart shop to my ebay shop. I must be missing something, but there seems to be no option to create a listing. Can anyone tell me where to look?
Thanks
Rob
Found it, there is a link in the product list view - I couldn't see it because I was using another mod that enhances that view. I'll have to look at integrating the two mods, but for now I can progress.teratyke wrote:Hi

No I didn't I'm afraid. I also found that if you update the stock levels using the product manager mod they don't get picked up by OpenBay (makes sense really). There is more to the integration of the two than just making the 'list on eBay' link appear.
I keep the product manager disabled and I enable it when needed. I did contact the developer of product manager to see if they could make product manager appear as a separate menu item to the original OpenCart product manager. I was supposed to be contacting them with more information, but I've not had time yet to do that. I'll let you know if I make any progress. Please let me know if you get a fix too.
Thanks

But. Documentation and usage information (tutorials, guides, video even) really needs attention. I suspect it's just growing pains and will be sorted out in time but when a module is new to its users, having inadequate info on how to use it is extremely frustrating.
Also support on the WelfordMedia forum is pretty sparse. I'm not sure if that's the best place to send queries (do staff monitor it?) but I've yet to receive any response from the @welfordmedia guys. Anyway as I say, this is really looking like a great product and it's probably just teething troubles.
Finally anyone who thinks it's expensive should look around at the competition in this field. It isn't. :-)
Cheers,
Steve
