Have you read the policies and checked to make sure that there are no violations? My feed was dissapproved once for ALL CAP titles. Once I corrected that, everything was fine. Also make sure you are not submitting the same products for more than one store.

Reading this, I can't see why Chrissy Poo's feed would be disallowed

I have just asked why my feed has been disapproved using this contact form:

http://google.com/support/merchants/bin ... isapproved

Will post back when I get a reply :)

One of the common reasons is that you are using "incorrect" language for the region, i.e. using German in UK, USA or English in Germany, or any other language in UK, USA or Germany.

Yeah, although Chrissy Poo is definitely using the right language for the area he's chosen (English in the UK)

I had a quick look at the feed at http://www.stylemyapple.co.uk/index.php ... e_improved

Two things that strike me as odd (not sure if they are relevant or not) are:
- The output itself seems to not just structure content, but also format it.
- There are no prices in the feed!

Is this normal?

What's wrong with it formatting the output? It's the DOMDocument that formats it
As for the pricing, I found one
<g:price>3.4900</g:price>
and the rest are there too

Nothing wrong. I just thought it was odd (uncommon).

You are right! I had initially opened the output in Firefox which doesn't display prices. Then I viewed source and was able to see the price tags.

Something basic: Are you sure your robots.txt is not blocking Google?
(you might have set it up that way for testing/sandbox and forgotten)

The formatting can be disabled, I just like to do it to get a better view when checking the output
Here's his robots file

Code: Select all

User-agent: *
Disallow:
Sitemap: http://www.stylemyapple.co.uk/index.php?route=feed/google_sitemap
Does the Disallow: mean that it will disallow everything? or does it need something there at least?

No I think my robots.txt is fine, if I wanted to disallow everything I would put this:

Code: Select all

User-agent: *
Disallow: /
Sitemap: http://www.stylemyapple.co.uk/index.php?route=feed/google_sitemap

That's what I thought. Having said that, I don't think Google will pay attention to the robots for a feed link will it since it's been given the URL by yourself. Good suggestion though SoosKriszta, wouldn't have sprung to my mind to check that :)

Logical. Unfortunately, Google thinks otherwise!

http://base.google.com/support/bin/answ ... swer=61118

Code: Select all

We do not allow links or image links to sites with a robots.txt file that prevents Google from crawling.

OK found the problem, it is because this product is not allowed:

http://www.stylemyapple.co.uk/nintendo- ... ro-sd-card

Is there an easy way to block a product from the feed or shall I just remove the product?

You would need to unset the product from the products array. Personally I would just remove it. I think it's worth removing to get into google base

http://www.stylemyapple.co.uk/nintendo- ... ro-sd-card takes me to what I think is a category page with 2 products. Google requires the links to take directly to product page, not to landing or list pages. Was that the problem?

Not sure I understand...
- If it was one specific product, do you know why it was disallowed?
- If the above link (which takes to list page) was the reason for disallowing, how did the link get into the feed output at all? I believe that both Q's and Jay's code output product page links...

It did originally go to a product page with an r4i card - I think it's been deleted as mentioned above since then, and this is now just showing the category since it can't find the product

In what way has it stopped? is it the original or the improved feed? Have you checked with your hosting that you aren't exceeding your memory limit or execution time in PHP?
