As Opencart latest version has openbay included I am wondering if its going to get its own forum as the support from welford is slow unless you pay $10.

It would not be so bad but there is little or no documentation .

Simple things like trying to import from ebay and it says you should only do this ONCE. But if you add products to ebay then you need to drag the new ones in from ebay it appears you cant actually do it!

Of course if anyone knows of the existence of a manual or documentation I am only to happy to read up on .

Well, as you've already seen (having posted) it will have its own threads, such as http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=161&t=106982 and http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php ... 73#p277936 as they occur.

In-house documentation (link topside) shows no results for an openbay search.

In a quick site search for unqualified "openbay" there are already "About 652 results (0.22 seconds)" at https://www.google.com/search?q=openbay ... encart.com, where problems vary in severity and resolution. There are "No results found for" the phrase "openbay documentation" but at at narrowed https://www.google.com/search?q=openbay ... encart.com for stand-ins there are "About 256 results (0.43 seconds)" instead. Either 652 or 256 Tens would presumably cover writing some documentation and charging Tens for that instead, but surely it "cannot be" that much more complicated than OC itself.

Hi mate

Is there only me and you on this forum lol

I have found a lot of FAQ's and docs that describe how it works but nothing that digs deeper.

I found this. https://openbaypro.uservoice.com/forums ... eral-forum

There is also this http://help.welfordmedia.co.uk/articles ... -from-ebay

and this http://help.welfordmedia.co.uk/kb

but syncronise give me http://help.welfordmedia.co.uk/kb/openb ... syncronise and does not expand.

Using it on the medium plan (reasonably priced IMHO) it is easy to add products to opencart and upload to ebay. BUT the new Note 3 has an awesome camera and my son lists some things via the ebay app on his phone so much faster than I can ;) . He does it from his house and all I need is to syncronise the stock in ebay with opencart.

BUT openbay video says you only "need" to import products ONCE. What I am trying to find out is what happens if I import twice but no one has the answer and I get no reply from welford since being directed to the ticket system.

Well, two is a start.

Forum is apparently merely guestbook style commenting, at https://openbaypro.uservoice.com/forums ... eral-forum but so far there are no entries.

Documentation seems fairly reasonable in outline at http://help.welfordmedia.co.uk/kb but dinna take time reading it, I don't use openbay. Includes sync.

I don't do videos, dinna waste time looking at that one.

Maybe nobody actually knows. You might make the necessary backup(s) and see what happens if you do it twice.

I might do that tommorow.

This is why I am sceptical...Caution! This will import all of your eBay products and build a category structure in your store. It is advised that you delete all categories and products before you run this option.
The category structure is from the normal eBay categories, not your shop categories (if you have an eBay shop). You can rename, remove and edit the imported categories without affecting your eBay products.

This option uses a lot of calls to the API, one for every product plus 1 extra call every 20 items.

You need to ensure your server can accept and process large POST data sizes. 1000 eBay items is about 40Mb in size, you will need to calculate what you require. If your call fails then it is likely your setting is too small. Your PHP memory limit needs to be about 128Mb.

Setting the memory ceiling amply high for the free export/import tool precludes having to reset it in mid course, so since that says 128M and do one run, you might want to try 512M at the outset.

You really don't want to import from Ebay unless you have a brand new store or a small enough number of products being imported. When you do this, it imports all of the Ebay categories and the exact settings from Ebay so there is a lot of rearranging to be done (moving products to your Opencart categories, deleting the imported Ebay categories, etc). After you're setup and running, you'll always want to add your products to Ebay from your Opencart store. Openstock can be tough to work with but that's the best way to keep all of your variations in sync between the two. Also, if you want a product to be ended on Ebay, set your quantities to zero in Opencart but don't disable the product and it'll update based on the plan that you have through Welford Media for sync frequency. I've had some issues but overall it's pretty good and I will give them credit that they have worked hard to resolve issues and I don't get the typical "you screwed it up, your other mods are interfering, etc" responses from them.

cwswebdesign raises a good point, and a relatively quick way to have both worlds might be just to set up a multi-store with a second store just for the purpose(s). In the event that there would be a reasonably thorough mix otherwise of the two sorts of offerings either to rearrange (with one store) or to add (with a new store), numbers of items would then tend to say whether rearranging or adding products would be the greater or the lesser headache. It does appear that Welford support has been consistently straightforward rather than evasive even while they, too, were wrestling with the unexpected.

Guys, I have a question about openbay pro. It has come to my knowledge that we require openstock in order for openbay pro to work with ebay if we are doing listing with variants options right? Is there any alternative extension modules (aside from openstock) that could do just that for openbay pro?

Unless you have someone develop a custom module, Openstock is your only option right now.

I have been using Welford Media's OpenBay Pro for Amazon, eBay and etsy over OpenCart for some years now so this review is factual and from long experience.
I pay in excess of £40 per month to have my OpenCart retail store kept synchronised with the other markets and the only consistent part of the operation is that its consistently breaking down. Having a background in software development is the only reason I have not moved by business elsewhere. I'm able to perform my own patches and feeds when theirs fails and this ability has made me complacent in going through the hassle of setting up another service provider.

The service is supposed to update my store with sales made and maintain accurate stock figures for the items I have linked. This frequently fails resulting in customer complaints for missed orders or missed order deadlines. I sell antique and vintage items so it's imperative that stocks are maintained so I don't double sell the same item. It's not like I can just order in more stock.

The support is no more than stalling tactics by asking stupid questions over and over and putting your support ticket on hold awaiting a response from me. The log files states 90% of the time that their servers are not responding. When it does partially work your left with the huge task of having to manually check every order was pulled in and do stock counts every other day.

Amazon has just contacted me because my seller status is at risk for failing to mark orders as shipped but according to my web store OpenBay has marked them all as shipped so I was unaware of an issue.

I now have to take the plunge and rid myself of this clunky, buggy software. No doubt deactivating it will cause issues throughout the website as the code is heavily integrated. However, there are cheaper alternatives with better reviews.

If you value your sanity, your customer relations, your feedback ratings then I'd advise strongly to avoid this terrible multi-market non-solution.
