Complete FedEx Package

I think a complete FedEx package would be killer, including features such as:

- Auto generation of tracking numbers and shipping labels (would save a lot of time on your end, and prevent possible errors when entering shipping data from orders into FedEx)
- Auto insertion of tracking number into customers invoice before invoice is ever even sent, and auto-subscribe them to FedEx.com email tracking updates (would really make the customer feel like you were on top of it, and would save you from sending out shipping emails)
- Display to customers the estimated delivery times
- Shipping services displayed to go off customers IP address / delivery address
- An option to sort the services by price, delivery time, etc.

This would all go off our FedEx account of course.

I know I'd be willing to pay well for this feature, as it would save so much time and increase customer satisfaction.

Thank you,
Jared

I am about 40% done with creating a new extension with the new WSDL version of their API. I am going to include rate lookup as well as label creation, and then perhaps add tracking to the mix. I'm making it a separate class to allow it to be easily extensible

Oh ok, great news. I do think that tracking would be very critical.

What is a good estimation of what 40% means?

Thank you,
Jared

have they finally laxed the requirements on label printing? I remember you used to have to print out stuff send it to them wait for them to verify and do that like three times or something stupid before they would allow you to use your own label printing system. One of the guys I work with helped write the initial label printing mod for oscommerce and complained about it to no end.

Never heard about that, but their newest wsdl offers a label print so I assume it should be ok

Sorry for the semi off topic post but, how do you get great rates via Fedex? I'm finding them to be rather stingy with the discounts.

i came up with a solution to this issue, www.quickonlineship.com

it is an online service to create fedex shipping labels with a mouse click.
Just import your order in csv format and print shipping labels for almost all fedex services.
