As per the instructions, I simply uploaded the given Hogan_USPS_7_2013.xml file to the VQMOD / XML folder. I am running OC 1.5.3.1

Note: I already had USPS shipping enabled and running in my shipping extensions. I tried disable it and then enable'ing it but that didnt help. In my example test, I took an item with a weight of .10 lbs which can be shipped First class mail parcel for $ 2.32 based on the close proximity of my zip code to my warehouse zip code. That shipping option comes up but, the shipping default is $ 19.99. for Priority Mail Express 1 - Day Flat Rate Envelope. I do not want it defaulting to the highest shipping rate as this causes a conversion problem when people see the default high shipping price. My site is at http://www.hardwarestorecloseouts.com and you can test it on The Westinghouse A-Line Bulb SKU 3404167 if you need to see a real time example.

Did I miss something ? All I seen in your directions was to upload that XML as mentioned above

The mod should fix that issue. Take a look at your VQmod logs and your system error logs. You may have a modified file somewhere that is causing the mod to error out.

EDIT: If the problem isn't obvious when you take a look at the logs, post them here and I will be able to get it sorted for you.

I enabled it just to see what would happen and still get this error.

Thanks for the help. OC 1.4.9.3
In the VQmod, find this line

Code: Select all

<search position="replace" offset="408"><![CDATA[class ModelShippingUsps extends Model {]]></search>
and make sure the offset integer matches the number of lines between the first

Code: Select all

<?php
and the final

Code: Select all

?>
in the file.

Sometimes files have extra white space (blank lines between each line of code, for instance) that throws things off.
Replace "408" with "413" for your file.

Thanks for the help. Changing the number made it work except international. Then I discovered the rectangle thing. It's always something really small, like a number or one wrong question mark somewhere.

Hi, I just installed this vqmod (I have OC 1.5.6). The strange thing I am seeing is that the Get Quotes popup shows the USPS options correctly, in ascending order sorted by price, but the checkout page shows them in descending order (i.e. the most expensive option comes first). Any idea why this is happening? Thanks.

Curious to see if you've sorted your issue, since I haven't heard back. If you're having issues with this, please post your vqmod and system error logs.

I have looked at my log files. and I have looked at my VQmod files as per your suggestion. I see nothing unusual in the VQ mod files and I am attaching the log file. However, I do not see anything obvious. But, I am still getting the default to the highest USPS rate plan which is causing a lot of drop outs on my checkout page. Opencart V 1.5.3.1

Vqmod produces error logs separately from the store logs. I need to see that log if there is one.

Hi Jeffro- just purchased your mod and installed it. I have only this mod installed, running OC 1.5.5.1.
It has not taken away the nonsense from USPS. Did I miss doing something?

Based on the error logs, it looks like you've either got other mods installed (you say you don't), modifications to core template files, or you may have downloaded the wrong version. For further support, post your VQMod error logs as well.

You've got some undefined variables and other things going on that are unrelated to my mod, FYI.

JeffroDH, Yes, saw the errors as well, tried to get rid of Google Checkout to no avail, posted on the forum but no one answered. If I comment it out, error still appears, put it back, still appears  ....

On the server, VQMOD error log is empty. Yes, I have modified core files, but I really don't think there is anything other than the core VQMOD and your mod. I installed both yesterday.

All I have for you is the OC error log again:

I'll take a look at 1.5.5.1 again later this afternoon, but given that there are other modifications to core files, that may go beyond the scope of free support. That said, I'll do what I can.

Have you double checked to make sure you downloaded the right version of my mod that matches your version of OC?

I see the delivery times have been briefly touched on but no real solutions. It doesn't matter if the display button is on or off I am not getting estimated times. I've played a littled in the usps.php file and in the xml files to see if I could hard code them into the descriptions. I'm obviously not getting them in the right place.

I'd just like to hard code so it shows "First Class Mail Parcel (2-5 days)" etc.

Can you tell me where I would go about this (file and line # if possible)?

Thanks a lot.

BTW - otherwise everything is great and gets a thumbs up!

I've checked it with my stock version of 1.5.5.1 and have confirmed that it is working as expected.

Things to check:

1. Did you install VQMod before attempting to apply this mod?
2. VQMod error logs - located in /vqmod/logs/. There will be one for each day of the week that an error is written.

Based on your problem, it doesn't appear that the mod is being applied to the store at all, which indicates that it is either not installed correctly (copy the xml to the /vqmod/xml/ directory) or is encountering an error based on your custom template and failing to complete. In the latter case, there will be data in the error logs, assuming that the directory is writeable by the server.

If you want to PM some FTP credentials, I'll take a quick look and see what I can do.

That was the problem, I installed your mod within the VQMOD directory but not within the xml file.
Seems to be working perfectly now, thanks JeffroDH!
