I'm using 1.4.9.6 and would like to add a module containing whatever you put in it (in this case, a feed of Facebook posts in a module to serve as a News function) in the Home location. I've found plenty of modules for adding sideboxes, and there seems to have been a module along these lines from Fido-X previously. However, Fido's website seems to have vanished, and the module is not turning up when I search the extensions.

Can anyone point me to an add-on or extension, or give me a run-down on how to accomplish this?

Here is my tiny vQmod that transforms Welcome module to Text Module. Should perfectly feet your needs :-)

Cartless (free) - "buy" button instead of "add to cart"
Stripper (free) - strip parts of OpenCart

Does it let you change where the Welcome message appears, though? I don't want the news feed to be right at the top.

Also, will it accept the code, as opposed to text, and display the results?

Tried it, no dice for 1.4.9.6, so it isn't backwards compatible.

And once again, if I think on something hard enough, there's often an easy way. It occured to me that the Welcome box could already take things like iframes for a Facebook feed, and all I needed to do was move the welcome box to the bottom, instead of the top. Found a thread here that showed how to do that. Now some tinkering to get the Facebook news feed formatting right, and to change the box's title, and it'll be good to go!

Yep, my mod turned to be not compatible with OpenCart 1.4.9. Sorry for that!

To change welcome text in OpenCart 1.4.9 edit catalog/language/english/common/home.php

Cartless (free) - "buy" button instead of "add to cart"
Stripper (free) - strip parts of OpenCart
