category: in modules not working

i download a extension where it will display a slides of random product pictures.. but my problem is i cant configure it right because even i type a category in the text box then save it nothing happen hope someone can point it out what is my mistake ... see the pic i attach the text box i encircle should be auto complete because thats what i saw in the video of that module i download please help..

i found out the problem the table of layout is wipe out so it wont show any layout,,
