I dont know if this has been mentioned, but i would like to be able to modify the shipping a bit more.
What i need is to able to assign products to different "shipping" groups.

Example:
Group 1: The shipping cost for each product get added together
Group 2: Flat fee

So if the cart contains products from each group the cost wil be the flat rate + each cost from group 1.

THe second thing would be to be able to give the customers a checkout offer like you see on every wholesale site that is on the internet.

In my eyes Opencart is free, but only the very basic functions, everything else you have to pay for.

I don't know if this was mentioned, but what I think would be useful is:
- adding few files as one download (for example if I have one ebook in few different file formats, I would be easier if I could create one download with all formats than add each file format as individual download),
- leaving the downloads listed in client's account, now after purchase when a client downloads the product it disappears from Downloads in his account, I think it would be much better if the file would stay listed but after using download limit, there would be info saying that he used download limit and the file cannot be downloaded again,
- assign an affiliate to specific product or products, from which when sold he would always get commission specified in his account preferences,

It's worth to consider ;)
Thanks

It seems Daniel just added Bootstrap for the backend on github....
And the version shows up as Opencart v2.0

Can we confirm this... are we jumping straight to v2..??

I want to echo the shipping feature request.

There are several ways to use this and different needs, but we need to be able to have shipping options for each item. We also need to be able to mark SPECIFIC products for free GROUND shipping only, but allow calculations for other quicker shipping options if the customer doesn't want ground.

Also, when drop-shipping from different manufacturers, each manufacturer uses a different carrier. I know Amazon.com has seen a great increase in their sales on account of their shipping options. You can select for one item to be over-nighted, but then the others 2-day or ground-shipped, etc.

So...

1. Ability for customer to select different shipping options for each item in cart.
2. The ability to mark certain items for free ground shipping in administrator product detail page.
3. Ability to mark shipping options or carriers per product or possibly per manufacturer or category.

I'd say that this is essential for us! It should be a core feature, but if anyone is interested in developing an extension for it, please contact me!

Chris

You'd be surprised at how many people *don't* need what you're suggesting. I actually developed an extension for individual shipping options for each product back when 1.4.9 and 1.5.1 were the current versions, and it never really sold. It was also a complex modification, so it was difficult to keep updated.

I plan on writing something similar at some point in the future, but it really requires the shipping code to be overhauled, so it seems unlikely Daniel will add it to the core. You can keep updated on my extensions by visiting OpenCartX or Opencart.com

I am certain there are those that don't need it, but as I've thought about several extensions, some of them are just complicated to market or even explain. I wonder if that is part of the issue here.

Free ground shipping has been around for a while, but it has gained a crazy amount of popularity more recently I think, especially for many eBay and Amazon sellers with parallel OpenCart stores. I know you can't offer it for every product though.

I will say that for us, we NEED it for sure. I hate that your extension didn't sell much though :(

It would be awesome if you'd post the kind of shipping overhaul that you think is needed. Maybe Daniel will listen.

Also, we will almost 100% purchase your extension if it is as described in my three points. I have been checking your (Clear Thinking) contributions out. I am glad you are an OC developer for sure! You seem to be thorough.

what will be included in v 2 ?
New vqmod ?
Hosted shop ?

and what is the estimated time ?

I suggest we can easily remove Fax and other field (not needed) just by check box.
Without using extensions

Thanks

Formerly I was using Magento and shifted to opencart because of performance issues on Magento. But there is one feature which I have benefited a lot on Magento that is missing on Opencart. That is rule based pricing/discounts.

Although Opencart had discount coupons users do not tend to use it or forget to use it.

On rule based discounts, the discount is applied to cart without users entering a code whenever the cart matches the rules defined.

The discount may be a percentage or fixed amount applied to the product price or cart total or it may be free shipment.

The rules may be quantiy or total of certain products or products from a category, cart quantity or total, number of products in the cart and combination of products; accompanied by the customer based properties such as the customer group.

Thanks

Based on past experience, we are going to jump to v.2

My wish is if admin use bootstrap please us it too for the front.
If Daniel consider new approach on how OpenCart work, just do it.
Don't make it half-developed where some themes and extension still work.
Break all themes and extensions with new rule and we can start from new base.
As long as database is not change too much, the data upgrade from v.1.5.5 to v.2 shouldn't be paint (I think)

And please be patient. Release the v.2 as beta. So we not faced the same issue when 1.5 is released at first stage.
1000 public test is better then 50 developer test. We can expecting user will test it with various way and method based on real usage.

There is no way of returning an order, or multiple products. The only way of returning products is to do separate returns for each product. I think this is one basic function that should follow the new next update.
Thank you for all the good work!

1.full configuration of some of the field options of sales order from the back-end admin panel.

Currently , there's no function to change of payment options for example - some options may even require a charge, eg paypal charge and hence the total amount doesn't reflect the appropriate changes

an idea for an existing $65 USD :'( module is

http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... SC&page=12

2.extra tab under each product where customers can get discounts when they get a bundle related to the specific product they are buying.

3. More simplified checkout process [http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=110&t=61334]

First and foremost I would like to thank the developers for creating this shopping cart, the ease of use and community make it worth the change. Also I want to thank the community for many contributions.

A feature I think that needs to be integrated into Opencart asap: BTW this is a deal breaker for anyone like us:

Background: We come from Magento to Opencart due to ease of use and community. When selling anything online for us, different options mean different SKUs, sometimes different images, and sometimes different price. The way our Magento worked is, if you had 20 flavors of the same product in say 2 different sizes, it would create each option as a different product for search and category purposes (suppliers don't use the same SKU's for different sizes and flavors), then it would combine these products using a "common field" (in our case CollectionID), and when viewing the products in product view, a selector is created for flavor and size, allowing you to choose the size and flavor. While choosing a different size and flavor, the price and image would change accordingly. Like demonstrated here: http://europasports.com/register/tour/d ... de=4070018

In most industries I have created stores for this is very commonplace. Unless you are just a small store selling specific unique products, this would be a severe bottle-neck.

So finally, like any other shopping cart I have used, the price, images, sku should change after selecting an option, like here http://europasports.com/register/tour/d ... de=4070018

Currently I am using Options Boost, and Options Price Update Redux! to achieve this, however when it comes to importation of many products, this is not helpful as it would be if Opencart did this out of box. This is definitely an option Opencart needs to consider. Thanks.

Please add all the basic features such as product sorting by date in the admin backend system, when copying product why don't it take us to the product add page directly with the exact info from the product copied instead of creating a new product right away and disabling the product. There are sooo many basic features not implemented in opencart that we have to pay 10-20usd just to get them which i see is really a waste of money :(

Also a really basic feature such as category depth which i had to pay another $20 to get a 3 level menu. There is so much basic stuff needed that just isint implemented. I switched from interspire cart to opencart because interspire's community is dead. But if i need to be paying for every single basic feature that was readily available in interspire and not to mention other carts, i might as well switch back.

I totally agree with the last post of f1br3opt1c .
OC miss so many basic features.

An example: apply button on products editing or the Custom Fields on Registration Form.
And a lot more...

Lets try to make those first and then goes to the big ones.

Thanks

In Brazil we have difficult to integrate opencart with payment gateways. This is because the customer's information in Brazil have another fields required by the payment gateways. Today, each one solve this problem out of standart. This is not good for develop modules and extensions using customers information. Does anyone have an idea to solve this?

tks,
Marcos
