I would like to create a sale for an entire product category for a specific length of time without having to edit each item one at a time to add the product special.

Is there an add-on or module to do this?

TIA

That name reminds me of osCommerce ;)

Very nice contribution, used it for years.

You can use the import/export mod and export your files, then sort the products by category or sub-category and enter the start and end dates one time and copy down the columns.

Under 5 minutes, start to finish.

We can create this extension if you are able to pay for it 10 USD.
Isn't it in progress for 1.5, Q?

so is that how it worked? It allowed you to set a special price percentage at the category level and all products in that category would be on sale for that percentage?

yes that's how it worked. You never used it when you were on zen?

Nah.. i only set sale prices for each item in the "Specials" manager.. which is why I made a "Specials Manager" for 0.7.x/ChromiumCart because I found that more useful.

Just like Hawkeye's existing tool lets you add discounts to multiple products, regardless of what category they are in. Seems limited to have only by category.

sure it's limited, but if someone wants to put everything in a category on special it sure saves them lots of time, particularly if they have lots of products.

Bump !
I have to tell you, NOT having this feature is almost a deal breaker for me.
I have several sites I run using ZenCart, and I use sale maker every month to put a different category on sale. One category is always 20% off retail, and that was what I was hoping I would be able to do with opencart. :ponder:
I love working with opencart and have learned a few new tricks while building my opencart store, but I have categories that have over 100, some even over 200 products in them. It would be nearly impossible for me to put their categories on sale. ( OK not impossible, but by the time I when thru each individual product in a category to put them on sale, it would be time for next months sale category ! )
Can I put a fire under this request & get the discussion going again ?

Thanks for replying Q.
The first mod you mention just eliminates a step. It creates a list that you can filter by category, but you still have to modify each product one at a time. It would save me a few hours, but not really what I am looking for, as you can only discount in dollars, not percentage.
The second one would be perfect, (and I played with it for awhile). You can select a category, or sub-category, and select a few products, or the entire category and put them on sale, either by a flat $ amount off, or a percentage off.
BUT, one you create a "special", save it and close, you have no way of viewing what you put on special, or modifying what you put on special from the back end.

I thank you for some guidance, but there just isn't anything out there that does what I need it to do, and be able to view and modify it afterwards. :-\

I really think this need to be implemented in opencart itself. not as a mod.
Or, if as a mod for now, be added to opencart as a regular feature in the future.

I have created an extension that should do everything you want regarding specials. Also, if you have any suggestions for improvement my ears are open.
