Hi Guys & Girls,

Just finished creating my site, done it all myself, total newbie! I'm very proud of it, now i just need to effectivly market it to get it higher up in the search engines.

Any ideas on how to improve it would be very much appreciated.

Very clean! Actually, I found it stunning!

@ ideas
1.) if you only serve the UK, then you don't need the language and currency drop downs on the top left
2.) You need to come up with a way to get people to interact with your site ;) Bug me once you have come up with a few ideas.

Hi SapporoGuy,

Thanks for the review!

Is there any way to remove the language and currency from the top right corner?

In terms of interact with site, how do you mean? Flash, twitter, facebook etc?

Thanks
P

eh? You didn't design it yourself?

Just edit the header.tpl file. Pretty easy to do if you understand CSS/HTML and very basic php.

Yep, social networking and other kinds of ways to draw customers back.
I was also thinking of testimonials and/or some kind of comment area.

Reviews are nice but you don't want to be ordering what every one else is for that someone special. (HEY, that is a good point, you need to play up the uniqueness of your product)

-- half joking --
In the past I often debated about buy a box of the same cards for valetines, you memorize the card, and give it to every "special" person and when they say thank you, you recite the card back. After a few people you'll be a pro
-- maybe ;) --

haha, no i didn't actually design the whole site myself, just game some ideas and pointers. ;)

Yeh, you've got some good points, at the moment we are still developing new products to put up, they will be ready by beginning of next year, hopefully.
So once I have those ready, it will make the site more exciting!

I like your final idea!

Obviously, greeting cards get updated every year
So, most women know that stock changes regularly so they will play right into your hands!

Tell the bird :

Honey, I just had to get you same card twice because how important and special you are to me. On top of which, can you imagine how hard and all the trouble I went through just to find the same card !!!

wahoahahaoa, don't forget to dispose of the box when marry them!
But, even if they do find it, just share all the great times you had using the same card for like 5 years

Actually, this joking around got me thinking.

Instead of testimonials. Why don't you gather interesting stories that came about the cards that you are selling?

very nice and clean website!

you can actually disable the currency/language from the admin side so it wont appear in your header, but i'm not sure whether the page will still load it or not. maybe some1 could advice me which one is better. i don't know much about php that's why i just disable it from the admin panel. :)

I don't know much about PHP...~~
Don't know much about JQuery...~~

Login to your OC admin control panel (http://yoursiteurl.com/admin/)

It is under System > Localisation > Languages / Currencies

For Languages, English would be your default by default. Put Status = Disabled (Also disable all other languages if you have any other languages pack installed)
For Currencies, put under field Value = 1.00000000 to make it as default. Then again, Status = Disabled. (Do the same for other available currencies for status)

I think that should do the trick.

I can't wait until the new 1.5 version comes out.

But only problem will be trying to update my template. In fact if i'm gonna do that, I might as well change the layout of stuff on the site.
Can anyone recommend the best way for my site to link back to my blogspot site? Do I just create a link on the about us page, like I have donehttp://www.mydesignercard.co.uk/about_us?
Or is there any special way to back link in the code?
