Hey guys,

I'm working on a website (with a friend/developer)...

This is what we have so far. I'm looking for feedback on it, so we can improve it if we need to and any ideas or suggestions.

Our website is www.leather-bazaar.com

My aim is to make this website a full time business and work on this as a sole income so it needs to be right! :)

Thanks,
Ben

If you really plan to make a living, by use of an online shop, you'll breathe in thin air. Regardless of, what you offer. Big Far East is dominating the Market, it's gonna very very tough.

Other than that, check your Site, technically, at least, where it produces a result.
It does not really look good, technically,at some sites, some even refuse to produce results.

I have my thoughts, so far, more, I fear, a future winner looks, a little, different. It's too little, too lean, somehow, still...
I feel this way, but, anyway, but you wanted to hear my voice. I hope, at least ::)

No offense!
Good Luck!
Ernie

Hey Ernie,

Thanks for the feedback!

Over the next couple of months we will be making lots of changes. Design wise once we're up and running we will be implementing new themes and images and offering other ranges of items too!

We're slowly getting there!

Any tips or mods you can think of be sure to let me know :)

Funny, since I've been making more than a living from my stores for 15 years. Don't let anyone tell you it isn't possible - it is. Just takes work and time.

As to your store - it looks good so far though some of your thumbnails seem to be very low resolution and are displaying poorly. Good photos is what is going to sell your products, so make them as large and clear as possible.

Your site is running slowly so that is something ip-cam is correct about and you should work on that.

You also need to work on building trust - make sure good contact information is front and center. I don't know where you are located since your contact page is still blank, though I see an international number in the footer. howdy@ email to me looks unprofessional (though cute - it doesn't fit your shop). I would remove the "est 2015" from your blog image logo too - most people don't trust brand new stores, so I wouldn't advertise that fact.

Your descriptions are pretty good though be sure to proofread and eliminate run on sentences. I like some of the evocative descriptions you are doing. Be sure to stress the quality of your pieces - hand made, genuine leather is your strongest selling point. Stress how they are stitched, the quality tanning of the leather, the padded handles, etc.

I would also re-work things like "Genuine Leather, by its nature has some scars (due to markings/cuts on the skin) which reconfirms that it’s 100% pure and gives it a perfect vintage look." "scars" is a negative in most peoples minds. I know what you mean but would rephrase it in a more positive way such as it having "unique variations". Always think how you can make everything a positive selling point and how someone who knows absolutely NOTHING about leather might react to it.

All in all, you are off to a good start. Good luck with it.

Running Opencart v2.2 with multi-stores from http://www.labeshops.com which has links to all my stores.

15 Years already, as you wrote, makes a hell of a difference, compared with Newbies, trying to get a share of it today.
15 Years ago, we had no dx.com, and other giants, waiting to sell for cheapest, even shipping cost included...

At first, the little retailers got hit, because of the big One's, locally. Today, it's still the same Game, just online. And it speeded up the whole works, by a 'quantum jump'. Some will survive, that's for sure. But only those, able to match Customer requirements, visually, technically, and professionally. There is no way around it, I assume..
