Where is the source code for kodemall posted?
Since it is based on OpenCart and is therefore bound by GNU's "copyleft" provisions (everyone who installed OpenCart accepted this license during installation), I assume the vendor of kodemall has posted the source code somewhere, as the license requires.
I too am interested in looking at something like this.
Thanks

I am not affiliated with kodemall at all, but you need to reread the GPL it does not say that if you base a software on a GPL licensed software you have to give it to everyone. It simply states that you have to provide the source to anyone you distributed it to meaning people who purchased it from you if you are selling it.rajiv wrote:Where is the source code for kodemall posted?

XSecrets, maybe true, but what would be the point? A purchaser is allowed by the license to publish it for free without further payment. See http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.htm ... tyToPublic. Why not just publish it to begin with? That's what RedHat does for all of the improvements they make to Linux and charge companies $thousands for.
Seems a little unbalanced (if not plain greedy) to take something that is free, add some bells and whistles, and thereby make it proprietary. I don't think that's the intent of open source. Not trying to start a war, but maybe I misunderstand what open source is all about if that's not the way it should work
Perhaps the best solution for people having trouble with modified software that their vendors choose not to publish is to publish the source themselves after buying it and hope that the community provides support.

Setup a expected customer group for every store letting you to have some stores setup for retail customers and remained as wholesale.
At a first glance it looks like a great solution.karan2 wrote:for a solution to build a project like etsy.com or lot.my using open cart - we have developed a customized package (paid , open source)

I am missing information on your site about the costs, which always makes me a bit hesitant.

for anyone looking at this I would also checkout http://www.fido-x.net/index.php?route=p ... duct_id=33
It isn't cheap, but this is a VERY difficult thing to do, so I would be dubious of any solution that is cheap honestly.

The best solution for running a marketplace using opencart is kodemall. I've been working on this idea for many years and 1 year ago I started using kodemall. It is a very complex project, Karan and his team did an awesome job making it possible to run thousands of stores with just one opencart installation. I believe the kodemall system has been greatly improved over the past year and it is very solid now. But the new features and improvements don't stop coming. If you need to run hundreds or even thousands of stores with just one opencart installation, you won't find anything better than kodemall.

Daniel wrote:Ok how would you want something like that to work?
Lets have a bit of a development discussion.
Features required for a multi store:
1. You would want a different store depending on the domain name the customer comes from.
2. Separate Templates.
3. Separate Categories.
4. Separate Products.
5. Would you want shared cart so if you buy from a mulit store you can pay together?
6. Would you want shared customer accounts?
7. Would you want shared coupon system?
8. Settings like store name, meta tags, welcome message should be Separate. I think most of the options can be the same though.
I have a feeling if I implemented this I would be getting no end of complaints.
1. Why can't my store only accept payment modules one store and not the other store.
2. I don't want my customers being accounts mixed up with my other store.
3. I only want people from one country access one store and not the other etc..
4. I don't want people using coupons on multiple stores.
hiii daniel
i want that type of application
i trry in opencart 1.5.2.1
plz look at this and help me to solve my problem.
i want to create multi store in opencart with othe domain
like my main domain is http://mymultistore.com
so is that possible to crate a store and that stores domain is http://mystore.com
like that for all other domain
right now i try following
i create a sub domain in main domain of "multiinfotech.com"
in that i creeate a sub domain - http://store1.multiinfotech.com/
in that i install the opencart
point to D:/Hosting/8977566/html/store1
now for multi store i create another sub domain http://store2.multiinfotech.com/
point to D:/Hosting/8977566/html/store1
now in opencart i go to system->setting
and create a new store
URL : http://store2.multiinfotech.com/
SSL URL : https://store2.multiinfotech.com/
after all that when i go to http://store2.multiinfotech.com/ it give me a 404 error

multishop is a good feature. Opencart do not function. But I hope it will soon Opencart. Some other site offers this feature. In my opinion, because they become popular. I also use this function. This is awesome.
If anybody still reading, I've managed before to convert Opencart to be fully multi-tenant, with each tenant using the same Opencart installation and all data residing in the same DB. It's not too difficult by any means, but definitely does take some time to do.
The other way to achieve it is with multiple DB, with the correct one being selected dependant on which domain the request comes from. This is a much quicker setup but it's nowhere near as clean or as flexible.
Thanks to DK and OC team for Opencart, excellent platform.

Happy to look at taking on custom work if anyone interested. Thanks to DK for Opencart, really is an excellent platform.
I am looking out for the solutions similar to shopify or volutions where anyone can start website on open cart in minutes.
Own domain
Own products
Select theme of its choice
Select extentions
To extend this feature.
Store created can also have marketplace extention
Where store owner can allow distributors and other sellers to upload there photos and products can start selling products.
Where shop keepers can charge per product selling commissions on that.
