I am working on/need help with a project.
I want my client to be able to edit an excel sheet or a UI and have that remotely sync every so often so that the product line is up to date.
I want this because my client owns a store and also sells online. But she has a limited inventory and does not have UPC's to keep track on in store inventory to be able to sync both store and online store. So basically she has to enter the inventory amount manually. So I would like to make it simple for her to be able to simply enter the product inventory on her computer and have it simply sync with the admin site. Tell me what you think of this idea and if it is feasible.
I will have updates occasianaly if anyone is interested.
The site that I'm doing this for right now is: http://www.chelseasboutiqueonline.com

It's feasible. You would need to set up some sort of interface on your shop by which it would accept updates, and you would need to have a script running on her computer to regularly read the spreadsheet and send it to the interface you set up.
It would be easier to use one of the existing import tools and manually import the spreadsheet periodically, if programming resources aren't already available.

Actually there are 3 options that offer more or less what you are looking for:
Most used: Export/Import tool for OpenCart 1.4.9.
Option 2: [MOD] Apsona ShopAdmin - import, export and reporting.
Option 3: OpenCart Tool.

Ok, wow those are great options. I guess the best would be option 3 but it seems that the site is not working properly for a download. But I really appreciate the input. I should have been more diligent in my research of the topic, would have saved myself alot of time and effort. Again, thanks alot!
