Hi, I was thinking of trying opencart. One thing however, is that I sell some ebooks. Normally I just manually email them after an order is placed, but there must be an easier, automated way? I've also noticed that a lot of my ebook emails that I send out get directed to spam folder (especially with gmail addresses).

so my questions are:

1. can opencart be set up for ebook sales?
2. is there some automated process I could set up for emailing ebooks to customers? it does not necessarily have to be opencart it could be something else if opencart is not an option.

Have a look at the demo store and downloadable products. This should provide you the ability to sell any downloadable content :)

thats good! but is it 100% automated? i found an older topic and according to one person "Every downloadable products purchased you need to confirm there order status to complete"

so does that mean it won't automatically be sent to them unless i approve the transaction first?

Hi. We only sell downloadable products. Opencart works well. You must upload each of your ebooks into Opencart Catalog/Downloads. Then set up each ebook as a Product. Have a look at our store http://kilbaha.com.au

i don't know what "assign correct order status" means... I've never used opencart before, but what you wrote above makes me think i must manually do something to complete the order process? or is "assign correct order status" some automatic process?

No its a automated proces.

when you have a look at a fake or real order, going to the history, there is a fiels that says order status.
order status can be edited or created under system localisation order status.

in you preffered payment gateway you can set order status for different status of payment ie declined, but also completed when payment is done.

once payment is done, your order status from that order will change prom pending to completed.

if you set completed as order status for downloads, once payment is recieved, order status is set to complete and client can download his order, this is all automated, so no need for manual updating.

manual updating is done when "real products"are sold,

i use it to inform my client about their order, ie payment ecieved, waiting for production to complete, shipped etc
