I got a domain from Arvixe productbeast.com and had installed OC to the url http://www.productbeast.com added my contents, did some work and finally got the SSL installed (trial by Symantec).
My Question is this:
1. Should I have made the install to productbeast.com vs http://www.productbeast.com
2. Can I now change it and should I even do so?
3. If so couldn't I just clone the OC over to a different URL?
How do I manage the redirects?
there is 1) productbeast.com 2) www.productbeast.com 3) http://productbeast.com 4)http://www.productbeast.com
I know for a fact right now if I input one variable or another it takes me to an Un SSL version of the site ( no good). What do I do? Arvixe tech support totally clammed up on this one.
You can only use a Certificate for one address only, use your .htaccess file to redirect any other way of calling your site. You will NOT get many Customers to just discard 'ATTENTION: UNSAVE' MESSAGES.
You should avoid to display/have 'External' Links, placed an SECURE Pages, not beeing called by HTTPS, or you STILL risk your Site potentially beeing targeted/injected/infected by harmful Content. so, Content such as Usernames, Passwords, Numbers, etc., could eventually still be collected.
When it comes to real Security, any compromise is one to much.
Better use nothing such, instead of getting potential Customers worried about Security, trying, clicking them into a seemengly half-baken secured Site.
