Start store on OpenCart

Hello, I'm new on the forum and interested to start my first ever open cart store but I don't know where to get started, I already have an affiliate blog can I convert it into an open cart store, or do I have to buy a new domain for it? Thanks!

Could also simply be about the OC version he intends to use prior to its installation since, after all, the user did posted in the General Discussions section of the forum.
