Which is it?
Just now, today, from https://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=cms/download
Quote:
Requirements
These are minimum requirements needed so that OpenCart can be installed and work properly.
Web Server (Apache suggested)
PHP (at least 5.4)
Curl enabled
Database (MySQLi suggested)
I hope the software isn't as flaky as the OC website information. Seems a simple thing to keep current or accurate if you want to instill confidence especially to newcomers.
"Everybody" here was a newbie at one point, asking questions and seeking reliable information and assistance.
It's not that I am out of a lot of time. Create db, d/l and extract to folder (htdocs for me), read a little bit of the install.txt file, Curl is enabled by default, checked, still enabled and then type in localhost/opencart in a browser. Maybe 2 minutes max.
I really wanted to try it out and then get disappointed right from the start. Disappointed that now, I would have to second guess that everything I read here may or may not be accurate.
If the website said PHP7.3+ required, I would have been looking into older versions or moving on (for now) or maybe for good.
I can't even find any info here for last stable release for os xx php xx apache xx mysql xx, nada.
If I'm missing something, please advise.
Anyway, that's my vent. Please update the page as mentioned above.
Thanks

See your self, 7.3.x at least for the current stable release (3.0.3.8 ):

When published once, OpenCart 4.x will need php 8.x:

It could of been a bit clearer here that my last response was not based on a mandatory asset but as a suggestion since PHP does evolve pretty fast on anyhow. However, it would be correct to state that Opencart still acquires the minimum PHP v7.3+ to be installed.OSWorX wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 12:38 amNot true!straightlight wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 11:18 pmPHP 7.4+ and below PHP 8 (with the exception of the master branch).

Being very blunt - no one should be using PHP 5.x as of now. PHP 7 is so much faster and of course much more secure.

Yes, PHP 8.1.0 was recently released. I don't know that a lot of software providers are supporting it yet.straightlight wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 7:04 pmIt's heading to PHP 8 on the master branch on anyhow.EvolveWebHosting wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 1:04 pmI don't know what version is the true minimum now but I hope it's PHP 7.4
