The default theme should not be modified. Replicate the default theme folder into another folder name. Only custom themes should be modified.

In addition, on the affected computer, check your installed extensions on the browser and disable them. Then, close the browser and reload the registration page to see if the button that does not respond yet responds afterwards.

On the same directory on Github, there has been several updates. Replace them all and see if that will fix the issue and also from the admin/controller/sale folder on Github.

No, the default folder should remain as is. You just need to ensure that the pmahomme folder also exist as a custom theme folder in the catalog/view/theme folder but from the database, ensure to rename the pmahomme back to default.

Removing the requirements for region / state may also prevent a payment module to complete its transaction since the payment provider may still require those values in order to complete a payment.

If using a custom theme, with installed Squareup extension of course, switch back to the default theme and see if you can replicate this issue. Also ensure your admin - > system - > localisation - > geo zones are defined since you also mentioned issues with your shipping on a previous post above.
