Re: Banner Open in New Window

Well I tired this, and it doesn't work as expected. I am using 1.5.1.1 if that makes a difference? All that happens for me is the page that the banner is on simply reloads and appends the url with the <a href="javascript:launchPopUp('http://www.waltersengines.com',900,600);">Walters Engines</a> popu...

Re: IP Address shows server not customer's IP

OK - This is now solved :-) This was fixed by moving the site to a new Apache II server. It seems earlier versions of Apache cause this... My host moved my site as the server it was on was too contended and we were seeing performance issues. He moved it to one of his new severs. We then noticed that...

Banner Open in New Window

I've use this code to force a click on a banner into a new window.

Code: Select all

javascript:void(window.open('http://www.domain.com','Click for your description'));
This works fine for FF and Chrome, but IE 8 just opens a blank page.

Is there a better way?

Thanks,

N

Re: Targeted Banner Ads by Category

If you created it, it will apear in the modules layout column too. You probably didnt notice it.If you were able to select it in the category edit page at ab design, will will be able to select it for modules too. I did not mean to offend you in any way. All the respect, Flo. Oh dear! The penny dro...

Re: Targeted Banner Ads by Category

Yes, and that is what Ive been saying 2 posts above. You can manage the modules on the newly created layout just as easy as the category layout. Edit your extension > modules > products whatever, click add module, select whatever position, and select the layout you just created for that new categor...

Re: Targeted Banner Ads by Category

Doing it for one category isn't so difficult 1. Create a new layout in SYSTEM > DESIGN > LAYOUTS called "Banner Category" or something else you can use 2. Add a route that doesn't exist, such as blah/blah to the route 3. In the category editor, click the "Design" tab and choose "Banner Category" as...

Re: Targeted Banner Ads by Category

To be honest, using layouts for this is in my opinion over the top,not to mention frustrating if you have other modules on that page that you want to be showing globally Is there a better way to have banner show in just one category? i.e. When we want to do a promo on a certain category it would be...

Re: Targeted Banner Ads by Category

The same way you added them to the category layout, for each new layout. I guess this is what I was missing. It seems I need to make a copy of category.tpl and rename it to my new layout name? insert new layouts or templates for sub-pages. After uploading the layout file to public_html/catalog/view...

Re: Targeted Banner Ads by Category

You can create a layout for each category if you want to, and then link the layout to the category, in admin on the category edit page, at the tab layout override. Then each category with layout assgned, will only display the modules added to that specific layout. I had a play with this today, but ...

Re: SOLVED - Coupons are CaSe sensitive?

My philosophy is simple. While I have the ability to work these things out, my time is more valuable spent making money than trying to code. Even if the fix is one line, you traded me that knowledge for a reasonable cost, and far cheaper than my time while I find a solution and implement it. If you'...

SOLVED - Coupons are CaSe sensitive?

I've noticed that coupons are case sensitive. Is there anyway around this other than creating multiple versions of the same coupon?

Examples:

Instant10
INSTANT10
instant10

And of course depending on how computer illiterate they are, you'll never cover all the bases this way.

SOLVED - Targeted Banner Ads by Category

Something else I'm trying to do. Any suggestions before I have it developed :) I want to add a banner to a category, but only a specific category, and not all categories. In the /modules/banner admin screen you can only add a banner to 'all' categories by selecting the layout, but I want to restrict...

Look for this path in the xml catalog/view/theme/YOURTHEMENAME/template/product/ and update it with your theme name. 4 occurrences.

Re: [SOLVED] search is very slow

You need one of the OC experts to help you. I just followed Simon's suggested route. However, these are SQL indexes, so they can be applied to any SQL DB, but I don't know the structure of 1.4.x OC. Hopefully someone will answer who does.

Missing Order and MYSQL Status Zero

I have noticed sometimes we have a missing order id. i.e. Order 122 is not present, but order 121 and 123 are. After looking in MYSQL/PHPAdmin I find that order 122 is in the table, but has a status of zero, which I can't find a reference to in the order_status table. Order 122 appears to be a dupli...
