Re: Delete or disable product ?

It depends on how many products you have - if you really do have 1000s and 1000s of them and you know that a given product is never coming back into stock then you could safely delete it because the main product details will be stored in the order_product table - however, order_product doesn't store...

Re: change background color Facebook likebox

I don't know which module it is, but you can only choose between light and dark if it's using Facebook's own 'like' plugin in an iframe: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/ If it's clashing with your site and you want to implement the Facebook 'like' feature using this m...

Re: v1.5.5.1 vs v1.5.6

Unless you desperately need a feature from 1.5.6 that can't easily be ported to 1.5.5.1, I would stick with 1.5.5.1 for now.

1.5.5.1 has been out for a while, so has better extension support, and most of the issues you're likely to run into are documented in the forums.

Re: Is there software to translate vqmod to written instruct

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the files were being opened locally in Firefox (or IE). Chrome doesn't seem to like the local URLs so it doesn't work in that one. I know the global community of Opera users is important, but I don't care what either of them think so didn't test it in that :) It hasn'...

Re: Checkout not working

if renaming the ini file definitely fixed it and you don't have access to the host's ini file, you could use phpinfo() to see what values are clashing with the ones in OpenCart's ini files.

Re: Is there software to translate vqmod to written instruct

tyvm :)

It is very rough though - i haven't looked at the file spec or anything so don't rely on it for production use, there could be big chunks of the XML not being shown, or vital attributes missing. Will post an update (probably be Friday now) after looking at the spec.

Re: clear bestseller

Maybe you could mod it to ignore products that are out of stock?

I'm not totally sure what you're asking/talking about.

Re: Is there software to translate vqmod to written instruct

Was thinking about something like this just to make it easier on my eyes. Only just started looking at it so this initial version/proof of concept as is rough as toast, but anyway: 1. Save this as human.xsl in your vqmod/xml folder: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="h...

Re: Multiple Category Parents

Off the top of my head: Not 100% clear on what's required, but does the catalog content change frequently? If it doesn't then you could use a database query to create the category information and save yourself some of the data entry through the admin panel. If it does (and it would be too much of a ...

Re: Server load due to opencart

VPS this might be part of your problem if you're hoping to run a large store, they never seem to get quite the resources you'd hope for/expect. Have you looked at the database in PHPAdmin/MySQL Workbench to check the tables are okay? Maybe have a search of the forums for indexes that could be added...

Re: Addiing total weight to order email to customer

It's coming from catalog/model/checkout/order.php (look for order_total_query). You might find this thread useful: http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?t=24589 The last post points out a couple of problems with the method, if you used a query that was somewhere along these lines then it might sol...

Re: OpenCart 1.5.6 Released!

The problems (especially OpenBay integration) are a real shame, but this: We have also added subscription payments to OpenCart and PayPal Express Checkout is the first payment module that supports the feature. You can create recurring profiles for products so users get billed based on the profile se...

Re: OPENBAY USERS - DO NOT UPGRADE TO OC 1.5.6

I know there's not much point in saying this now but you really should have a backup ready before making any sort of upgrade. There's always that extra "buyer beware" with free software, but paying for a product or service is no guarantee that it's actually going to work either. Does your agreement ...

Re: clear bestseller

The bestsellers module pulls up a list of products that are enabled and have an available date less than the current date. You'll need to make sure the products you don't want to appear in the list are either disabled or have an available date set to some time in the future. If you don't want to do ...

Re: upgrade to 1.5.6 open cart

To be fair to the people posting with upgrade problems, most of them only have one or two posts - we can't really expect new forum users to be aware of OpenCart's idiosyncrasies. For the new folks, welcome to the forums and please don't take the responses the wrong way - if you wait a couple of days...
