Re: Admin Redesign

Most parts of the admin is really good, like the welcome page with statistics and orders etc. That's all well designed. It's just that some parts could need more usability. Like some tables: I think that some could use an extra row to show the current setting. E.g. under 'Extensions' it would be use...

Re: define variables

You add languages to the catalog/language/ folder. Then, in the admin, you need to add these languages via Admin > Config > Localization > Languages.

Then you're able to add different languages when adding/editing products.

Re: Canadian Taxes

Yeah, it's easy. Different taxes for different type of products are easy to realize.
But if you need to charge different taxes for different locations (like in the US) it can become harder.

Re: Admin Redesign

But currently the only menu with more than one sub-category are 'Users' and 'Localisation' under 'Admin > Configuration'. My idea is just to make all subcategories always visible in the second line so they are quicker to catch. This makes it easier to use. I think you don't need the 6 big icons on t...

Re: Website CSS messing up!!!

Maybe it has to do with your address base. If you look directly under the content-type meta tag, it has the wrong base URI: and not like it should: So the browser gets the wrong URI to the css file: http://208.190.126.85/store/catalog/template/default/css/default.css and not http://208.190.126.85:56...

Re: Add/Edit orders in admin panel

Yes I think the same. I can imagine that there's often the need to change an order. For example when you need to remove a product that's been sold out since and don't wannt to cancel the order because of that. Then after the edit, a new invoice should be sent to the customer and the order status cha...

Re: How to search directly in Web browse address bar?

@ madaha your cart installation is broken. the form code I posted above WILL NOT break your cart. that's just impossible since 3 lines of html will of course not interfere with the php. I just realized that the form on the search results page is exactly the same. look into catalog/template/default/m...

Re: How to search directly in Web browse address bar?

You could set up a form and set the input field to hidden. Then add the wanted values like below and style the submit button with css. <form action="http://localhost/opencart/index.php?controller=search&action=page" method="post">   <input type="hidden" name="search" value="red motorcycle" type="tex...

Re: encoding issues

I just tried hardcoding the codepage into the main index.php: header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8'); This works for me, all special chars display correctly and the page gets served as utf-8 like specified. I think my host has PHP set to serve pages as iso-8859-1 and you can override it wi...

Re: Admin Redesign

I think the admin could use an overhaul. E.g. when you add a product it would be nice to have an img upload right there. You still could leave the option list for those who wanna choose from the images already uploaded. Also, the admin isn't intuitive sometimes. To do stuff you must go up and down. ...

Re: encoding issues

Thanks! I already checked some important files myself, but all are in utf-8. Though some in Unix and some in DOS format. Could it be that's an CR/LF issue? The $ is displaying alright, € converts to '€', and pound sterling to '£' Also, special chars I type in the admin aren't saved to the databas...

encoding issues

I have a weird issue about encoding, special characters aren't displaying the right way (€, £, etc). Lang files still have UTF-8 as setting, but the actual page is served as ISO-8859-1. I see it when selecting page properties in Firefox. The browser chooses iso and specials characters are messed up....

downloadable products list

I'd like to suggest one feature: a downloadable list of the products for offline use (easy printout etc). Maybe this could be done with tags (something like BBCode)? Let's say I manually insert what I want on such a page, like [product_id], [price], etc..., then it pulls these info from the database...
