Re: No .htaccess file?!

Google usually comes to my site twice a day. About once a week they need more than 24hrs.
Their webmaster tools and a sitemap file are really helpful.

Re: add new font

I think you don't mean the actual font, but to translate the cart to Farsi. Look at the language PHP files in your script folder.

Most modern OSs and browsers already support Farsi and many other languages (it's built into Firefox, IE, Safari, Konqueror, even Netscape).

Re: No .htaccess file?!

From "Googles own blog": However, as a matter of fact, we at Google have made some progress in both areas. While static URLs might have a slight advantage in terms of clickthrough rates because users can easily read the urls, the decision to use database-driven websites does not imply a significant...

Re: Tableless?

I think the current way using a table for the product grid is perfectly ok. Some will argue that semantically it's a list and not tabular data. However, there will be problems if a product title is a little bit too long (see illustration below). I know, chances for this to happen aren't very high, b...

Re: issues with the template - buttons and jaqvascript

What I meant is that any site should degrade gracefully and work without Javascript. It's fully your decision of course, I suck at PHP (only do UI development and xhtml/css at work) so I don't know if it's possible, but I really think it's a must for modern web dev. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unob...

Re: issues with the template - buttons and jaqvascript

Hmm, but that's a developer point of view, without the user in mind. I'm not complaining. But I think it's really the center point of a website that's gonna be used by a wide/general audience of users (like a shop script). Ok it's 2009 already and websites are rather applications. But a simple searc...

issues with the template - buttons and jaqvascript

I noticed that most form submits are handled with onclick javascript. In my humble opinion, this is a terrible choice. The result is that the site visitor can't just enter data into forms and press enter (for searches, logins etc.). He needs to grab the mouse to submit the form. Don't you think a no...

Re: No .htaccess file?!

Oh yes, Google should have NO problems with OpenCart 1.x URLs.

There isn't much SEO anyways, just websites done right and other websites that smell fishy.

Re: German "Umlaute"

I had the same issues. I think your host set php to serve pages as ISO-8859-1 as default, overiding the HTML document declaration (and even though it might support UTF-8). See the following thread and comment: http://forum.opencart.com/http://forum.opencart.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=1267#p1267 Danie...

Re: Google Analytics

I would say it's dead simple. Simply add the tracking javascript within the header in the main template file (catalog/template/default/layout.tpl).

Yeah that's good. I have a few more ideas for the admin UI. I'll do another Photoshop mockup later this night and upload it here. I've already done a fancy tab-menu and more.

Re: define variables

No I think he needs to add more words that translate 'out of the box'. Some that are not in the language files and not needed for Opencart. xaicks: Look at a language php file and see how different words are defined. These get read from within the backend in this form: $language->get('button_add_to_...

Re: Installation problem - Register Gloabals & PHP 5 error

I agree. In any case, your first step should be contacting your host to upgrade PHP. Most will do, or move your account. If not you should look for a more serious host.

Re: define variables

Ok, I got you wrong there. Don't know how to add words that will translate outside the product description, etc...
Maybe you can start looking how things like box headers etc. are handled right now.
