Re: Multiple Product Templates [1.4.6 - 1.4.8]

spikeachu wrote:You'll need to insert a new column named 'template' of type VARCHAR into your product table. That should do the job.

Regards, Spike.
Hi Spike,

There are 2 tables that seem relevant: "product" and "product_description". Do I need to amend them both?

Re: Removing sub-category link from menu

Did you ever figure out how to do this? I just created my own hard-coded one from scratch, to solve this and a couple of other things I didn't like about the default navigation.

Re: Select only the latest products module?

What do you mean by "select"? Are you asking how to only show that module on the home page, or in the L or R column?

Re: cant get tax app to work

It's part of the multi-stage process of setting up Localisation (System > Localisation). You have to set up Currencies, Countries, Zones, GeoZones, and Tax Classes.

Alfaman, don't see any background. Did you remove it?

Re: Changing Display Date Format

rph wrote:To recap, you need to change the file in TWO locations:

Okay, I changed the long and short date formats in these two files.
But I'm still seeing year/month/date on the data tab for products.
I don't get this.

Custom stock status per individual product?

Has anyone written a mod (or can someone tell me how to mod it myself) so that I could use the default "Out of stock" status for my products, but have the option to override that with select products? For my purposes, it would automatically select my default message, unless I chose another custom me...

Re: WARNING - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Afraid I have to second what Twiggy and Abraxas have said. His lack of communication is unprofessional and unnerving. I lost 2-1/2 weeks of development time. Three times he told me he was done or nearly so, then...nothing. It's simply not worth the crazy-making. I can absolutely recommend Jay Gilfor...

Re: Basic SEO to kick-start your Online Store

That's a nice concise guide to SEO. Good of you to post it. In my opinion, DMOZ is a waste of time. But it's only your time, so go for it. You also don't need to submit your website to search engines. They're search engines; they'll crawl it. That's their job. I would add 2 things I've used for year...

Re: world-of-satellite.co.uk My first online store!

Well, you certainly can't go wrong sticking with the basics. I have to say that Jay's Nivo Slider looks pretty slick on your home page. Good choice. If I were you, I might rename it to something other than "slide show" - something that would make a customer understand why it was there. But otherwise...

Re: Removing fields from admin product insert

Hi music, Yes, I've found this board to be surprisingly lenient on newcomers with (really & truly) STUPID questions, which yours was not. You can help other people if in your latest post your tell us HOW you fixed it, so people after you might find the answer. My only contrib to this issue is what I...

Thanks for the info. I did use the onclick, because it was a straight substitution. I really appreciate all the help (and so will everyone else who's looking to do this)!

Re: Make "continue" buttons be "back" buttons

Hmmm, that doesn't work, either. Instead of trying to go back, it tries to go to http://www.mydomain.com/history.back(), which of course doesn't exist. In poking around the web, I found some (admittedly old) info on Webmaster World: "If you use sessions then just remember the last page in your sessi...

Re: Make "continue" buttons be "back" buttons

Based on the above, I have found 4 controller files I think I'd want to change. Before I totally nuke my cart, can someone tell me whether this is the right coding to change, and the right change to make? catalog/controller/checkout/cart.php catalog/controller/error/not_found.php catalog/controller/...

Make "continue" buttons be "back" buttons

Instead of taking the user back to the home page, I want those "continue" and "continue shopping" buttons to be back buttons for the barely-web-literate. (All except the ones inside the checkout process itself, of course). Can anyone tell me how to change this? Is it on a template-by-template basis?...

Re: Want to Hardwire Model, Location and Tax Class

Wow...a nice solution, but that's a hell of a lot of code-tinkering just to set the primary tax class automatically.

Is it realistic to hope that this will be coded into future releases??

Re: Subject

Hi Nicky88,

I don't know the answer to your question, but if I were you, I'd edit the subject of your post to be way more descriptive ("How to create subject drop-down field for contact page?" would be perfect.) You're way more likely to attract the kind of people who have the answers this way.

Re: Changing colour of blue bar on pages.

Download from catalog/view/theme/default/image the following images:

header_1_center.png
header_1_left.png
header_1_right.png
tab_2.png (assuming you also want to change the tab colors to match)

Change to whatever color you want using you favorite image editing software, and reupload.

Re: US merchants: SERIOUS incr. in sales (NOT spam, read on)

I actually contacted them when you first joined to get a look at their API. They wanted too much information from me so I stopped inquiring. I've found no other cart modules for them. The change was made only to the cart template - don't know how you'd make a module for it. But since it's only for ...
