Re: Future feature request re: photo sizing

Hi Xsecrets, I've always used compression software. If it's good, you really cannot see ANY difference. The one I was using was incompatible with Win 7, so I was forced to rebuy new software, and I'm glad I was, because it's even better than what I was using before: http://www.winsoftmagic.com/ajc.h...

Future feature request re: photo sizing

I consider photo handling to be the main weakness of OC. While it might be flexible for some, it's a huge waste of server space if (like me) you have 3 stores on one VPS, and want your main product photos to display exactly as uploaded. My main complaint: my image photos are all compressed to somewh...

Re: Image sizes question

Wow, Jay, as usual you are spectacular. I had already deliberately specified only 3 different image sizes in the admin panel specifically to keep this from happening, but still don't know what the other 3 are for. Now I know what the 38x38 is used for (and don't need it) and can modify that. As for ...

Image sizes question

I'm using 1.4.8b, and I notice that my uploaded photo is generating up to 6 different sizes in the cache folder: 38x38, 40x40, 75x75, 100x100, 125x125, and 350x450. I've only specified 3 different sizes for photos (75x75, 125x125, and 350x450). I know there's probably another size needed for the adm...

Re: Setting to remove button_add_small (Quick Add to Cart)

catalog/view/theme/default/template/product/category.tpl Find and delete this code: <a class="button_add_small" href="<?php echo $products[$j]['add']; ?>" title="<?php echo $button_add_to_cart; ?>" > </a> If you don't want to modify the template, a quick and dirty way to accomplish this is to r...

Re: How to centering the footnote?

Hi, everyone, I not able to centered the footnote (copyright message). I put a banner image too, neither footnote and bunner placed center. I did on stylesheet, but didn't change. Thanks everyone. Not in the stylesheet. It's in catalog/view/theme/default/template/common/footer.tpl Right before the ...

Thanks, Alex. (How weird that it's not a separate error file, like the others.)

Re: Transferring old site to new one

Thanks for the input. And you're right that it might be much ado about nothing. It's not that I'm concerned about people bookmarking products (though they do); I'm concerned about old search results. But maybe this is moot, too.

Re: SEO URLs pain in the butt - really necessary?

I think they look good in search results, much more enticing to click on than some nonsense url. Yes, I had considered that. Wish I could be certain how many people even pay *attention* to that. I (sometimes) do, but it amazes me how many people call me to place an order and when I ask them which w...

Re: Transferring old site to new one

yes that would be done in the .htaccess file, and yes that's pretty much the only way to do it, and yes you are correct that someone coming from a bookmark or a link will get a 404 page without it. Yeah, that's what I figured. As an alternative I'm considering making my 404 page read something real...

Re: Unable to delete country United Kingdom

adrunkentheory wrote:I had this problem as well. I ended up going into phpMyAdmin and removing the zones_to_geozones manually as I could not figure out how to do it through the admin panel. I was able to delete all UK settings through the admin panel after doing so.
Thanks! I'll check this out.

SEO URLs pain in the butt - really necessary?

At the risk of opening up this can 'o' worms again...I really like the ability with OC to write my own SEO URLs, but it's an enormous time-suck for all the products for all 3 stores I'm redoing in OpenCart. I watched Matt Cutts talk about SEO URLs in a video on his blog (http://www.mattcutts.com/blo...

Unable to delete country United Kingdom

I wrote about this earlier in bug reports because it appears to be a bug, but no one responded. Maybe someone can help with this? I think it's because the UK started out as the default in everything, but when I try to delete it in Countries, I get the error message: "Warning: This country cannot be ...

Re: Transferring old site to new one

Really? That would be a relief! But if, say, someone tried to follow an old URL...well, here's a real example: http://www.tabletopcollectibles.com/Apple-Tea-For-One-Set-by-Romero-Britto_p_2798.html The static URL from the above example was generated by the software. I certainly don't want my new URL...

Re: Transferring old site to new one

Sorry if that sounded brusque to you. I'm frustrated that I *don't* have root access to my old DB.

I can always try asking my new web host for tips, but I thought it made more sense to ask people who may have had to do this, first.

Re: Transferring old site to new one

Can't do #1, don't have FTP or root access (it's a hosted solution). And the software is completely different, so I couldn't do a clean install of it - if that's what I was supposed to do a clean install of. My question wasn't about how to transfer things, necessarily, but how to redirect the old UR...

Transferring old site to new one

I'm sure this is pretty basic, but I've never done it before. I'm going to be moving my 3 stores and someone mentioned to me to make sure to do "301 redirects for the old pages". Do I actually have to map each and every product's old URL to its new one?? (And is this done in the .htaccess file?) Is ...
