Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

The developers of OpenCart were the ones saying the new version would have this feature and that feature built in and they were delaying release of 1.5 to allow these to be incorporated. You only have to read back through some of the forum postings to see those statements. It now appears that these ...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

OpenCart is an open source program, you have full access to the code and can modify it yourself to do all the things you want it to do. Folks have different levels of programming ability, some struggle to even make minor changes to the stylesheets, others are able to dig a litle bit deeper and some ...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

I had to Google 'Mosaic Browser' as been so long since I had heard the term. ;D Sadly 1.5 not having the shipping estimator built in now and probably also without PayPal Express and Google Checkout being part of the CORE program for a while, OpenCart just isn't a viable option for me in the near fut...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

I am not sure that it is as severe as loosing customers though. On one of the templates for OpenCart, can't remember exactly which one as a few months ago now, the site looked fine, until I tried it in IE6 and the checkout button was totally non functioning. Now I'm sure THAT would lose customers.....

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

IE6 usage had dropped dramatically to less than 2.5% in December I would love that to be the case so I just checked statistics on three of my hobby websites, all of which do well over 10,000 pageviews per month but sadly, they all report a completely unchanged 10.1% overall IE6 usage. Trouble with ...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

Actually I've just found a brilliant stats site that shows detailed browser usage by country. For the UK and the States, IE6 usage had dropped dramatically from over 7% in the summer, to less than 2.5% in December so its demise is rapidly accelerating now. I know a lot of mainstream sites no longer ...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

Screw IE6.. little time will be wasted on IE6 from now on. I'd recommend adding a javascript warning to your site telling people to come out of their caves and get the latest version I have one site using a straight to PayPal/Google cart that works brilliant APART from the fact the design elements ...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

Probably more than any other factor, the thing that really hacks people off with online shops is the checkout process. More so where that process is over long, asks for everything but your shoe size and your first sweetheart's name, or you get confused as to where you are now, or where you are going...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

OK, as this thread has got rather long now and filled with technical jargon can we just have a recap of some of the salient points. 1. The current templates won't work with 1.5? 2. As well as the desperately needed integrated shipping estimator, will PayPal Express and Google Checkout definitely for...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

Daniel has kids... I hope that statement from Q dispels all those'doubting Thomases' that said Daniel couldn't be civil for ten minutes. ;D You'll be getting the new version in 2011 folks, and more importantly you'll be getting it for FREE. Just be grateful it on the way and stop trying to tie thos...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

Irrespective of legal requirements, invoicing systems, hooks or any other criteria, the one thing that is going to benefit most users, is for the poor old customer to finally see what the shipping charges are, WITHOUT having to go through the farce of filling in forms to get that basic piece of info...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

On a positive note, it looks like we are going to have a white Christmas here in the UK. I thought you said POSITIVE note....this island is not built for snow....we can only handle moderate weather....look at the transportation kerfuffle...I guess it's ok if you've already reached home....but not i...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

Well it's nearly Christmas now and I hope you guys are going to leave Daniel alone for a few days now. I know that everyone thinks that software developers are nerds that never leave their computer screens, but I'm sure that Daniel has friends and family in the 'real world' that he'll want to spend ...

Re: FYI: Upcoming Changes in 1.5.0

The one change I would really like to see, is where templates from version 1.5 onwards will be forwards compatible.

Im sure that many shop owners (and some developers) get put off with templates no longer working every time a new version is brought out.

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

When all is said and done, OpenCart is open source (the clue is in the name). :-\ That means you have access to all of the code and can adapt and modify it to your heart's content. I'm sure Daniel has lots of other things to do like the rest of us at this time of year. Shopping for mince pies, buyin...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

When, when, when will released OpenCart 1.5.0? We were promised by December, and again nothing! If the owner can not or he does not have enough time. Then it may work in a team, I see that many offer their help! But their for some reason ignore! >:( If you were to stand at a distance and look at th...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

yea i really don't understand the zencart comparison... zencart is so different from opencart it may as well be another language. I am thinking that somewhere in the distant past, programs like Zen and Magento never set out to be the complex, difficult to use, bloated offerings that they are today....

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

I think I preferred the original concept of OpenCart. A simpler to use alternative to the likes of the bloated Zen Cart. Only practical thing that was missing from the core program was the shipping estimator and PayPal Express to bypass the form filling. Looking at it now, it appears to want to beco...

Re: Progress Towards 1.5.0

The original concept behind 1.50 seemed to be putting essential elements such as PayPal Express and a shipping estimator into the core program. The feature request list now seems to be adding more and more complexity into the program to the point where I am wondering what benefit it will offer over ...
