Re: Understanding GNL Public License with Opencart

Sorry if this has been discussed many times, but please correct me if I am wrong: As long as the module/extension author provides you the source code of the module that you have to paste into existing OpenCart code, you are free to do whatever with the module (including resell, publish freely, modif...

Re: Admin Edit Order 1.5.x

Good! Something I have waited since I found OpenCart over a year ago and started talking about this topic. Now, there are two things that should be quite easy to implement, but as it's a paid contribution I'd expect it to include these: Edit product name (we often have products/services that are uni...

Re: [1.5.0] Edit Customer Order

I really hope that it will be implemented and actually working as it should. It was discussed over a year ago that it will be there in the next releases, but the roadmap still shows that it's not yet ready...

Re: Backend Order Entry

ok so you are talking about the sub-total then not the total, because the total includes all taxes/shipping/discounts/etc. And why not use the one extra field in the database if it allows you to eliminate an order_id lookup and a sum operation when you don't need to list the products like on the or...

Backend navigation

Sorry if this is discussed somewhere, but I don't feel very well with the current backend navigation. Firstly, the navigation simply doesn't work sometimes - no dropdowns (at least in Chrome). Maybe a more reliable plugin could be used for this, as it fails very often. Secondly, I don't really see t...

Re: Backend Order Entry

1) Why keep order total separately from order products in database. It could easily be calculated from that's for simplicity. An order can have any number of products. If you wanted to try to cram them into the same table you would have to set a limit, and then you would have extra empty fields mos...

Re: Backend Order Entry

Great that at least something is done, but it's still quite problematic: 1) Why keep order total separately from order products in database. It could easily be calculated from from 'order_product' table. 2) It would be nice if the product's name could be changed - shouldn't be very hard, as database...

Re: Backend Order Entry

A few ideas/questons: * If I don't fill in the product price and totals, will they be filled in after submitting the form? Will the totals be updated after form submit when I change product price? * Are currencies in OpenCart handled as decimals, not floats? In oscommerce order editor, entering a *....

Re: Sanitize database input

If you're entering any data into database, you MUST escape the data with real_escape_string. This is the ONLY function that you should use for security reasons when inserting to DB. The other option is to use prepared statements. addslashes is not sufficient for escaping data. OpenCart framework pro...

Re: Backend Order Entry

Manual order entry/edit being added to v1.4.8!
Great job developers!

I hope it meets the user's expectations. I'll be sure to check it out as soon as the version is out and start preparing for moving to OpenCart.

Thanks!

Re: Backend Order Entry

I don't think that integrating with payment modules should be a priority - you can always ask your customer to make an extra payment with PayPal. Or if the payment method doesn't support it, then ask the customer to place a new order for the items he wants to add or find some other solution. Also, I...

Re: Backend Order Entry

Any information from developers would be helpful: * Are you planning to implement this feature (couldn't find it in the roadmap thread) * Time estimate - weeks/months/years would be very good Thanks! I'll give a hint on how it works in osCommerce (with some addon): Admin -> Create order -> Choose th...

Re: Backend Order Entry

Any guesses when this might be actually implemented? Couple of months, a year? Our company has been running osCommerce for a few years, but we are now looking towards OpenCart, as osCommerce is no longer updated and the code is just... awful. It is a daily routine for us that customers ask us to cre...
