Re: Centralised Logging

Didn't realise I'd had a reply to this :) I did consider Loggly and other similar logging services, but we didn't really want any additional expense or to push the logs off onto a third party as there could be occasions when we might log customer data or similar and then would have issues with Data ...

Re: vQMod Large Mod Cache

Thanks for the reply. Completely get where you're coming from and in truth I could make significant improvements if I directly hacked the source code of OpenCart - we're never going to use the affiliates capability and it's unlikely the multi-store functionality either so could happily hack those bi...

vQMod Large Mod Cache

Hi All, I've just moved my OpenCart installation over to AWS as a web host and overall really happy with how things are going. I have however had a bit of mare on the performance front. Some of it was self-inflicted as I've used a combination of Override Engine and vQMod to write my extensions which...

Re: HTaccess problems - help please

Have to agree, if your hosting company doesn't support those lines in .htaccess then it indicates they've either bolted Apache down to be exceptionally basic or not running a standard Apache set up.

Re: How to offer free shipping only when Paypal reaches X am

Easiest way would be to create two new shipping methods within OpenCart. One has a free shipping value of >£50 and the other with a free shipping value of >£70. Then restrict the first to be only available with paypal payment method and the other only available if not paypal. Doesn't need an extensi...

Centralised Logging

Hi All, I'm in the process of moving hosts for my OpenCart store from shared hosting over to Amazon Web Services. The intention is that I'll have multiple application servers (auto scaling in time), a single database server and using an S3 bucket to host all of the images. I've successfully written ...

Re: default sort order - price highest first

I'd suggest writing a VQMod rather than hacking the core. Either way you need to look at catalog/controller/product/category.php and change line 21 from:

Code: Select all

$sort = 'p.sort_order';
to

Code: Select all

$sort = 'p.price';
and line 27 from:

Code: Select all

$order = 'ASC';
to

Code: Select all

$order = 'DESC';

Re: Gzip, same server one OC works other no

Create a file called "info.php" in the root of the open cart and add the following code: <?php phpinfo(); Now navigate to that file in a browser and it will give all of the nitty gritty set up of the server for that particular installation. Delete the file once done as it can be a security vulnerabi...

Re: How to avoid scroll/jump to page top?

Honestly, I would suggest .... Thanks, but I didn't ask about your opinion regarding the tall header and I don't think I need to explain why the site is made that way either as it's utterly irrelevant. I was merely asking about help to stop the page(s) jump/scroll to top. Wouldn't have said it was ...

Assuming you're configured up with Google Webmaster Tools, they offer a move domain method:

Just checking that you've confirmed you have zlib installed and phpinfo() lists the zlib block correctly?

Re: Google Search Help

Hi all, Just searched google for Leather Bazaar (my new business) and it came up on the first page. it never used to! Re: Wrong Date Ordered format when updating order status

I'm only on 1.5.6 but this points to there being a problem where the PHP date format is being passed incorrectly. This should be set as a language preference - catalog\language\english\english.php $_['date_format_short'] = 'd/m/Y'; $_['date_format_long'] = 'l dS F Y'; $_['time_format'] = 'h:i:s A';

Re: Memory Error in subdomain of main domain

It's down to a product on Page 4 having a very large image which when being resized, consumed more than the standard 64Mb of RAM allocated to PHP.

This came up recently: http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=143938 and a few suggestions were made on there.

Re: .htaccess rewrite issue

The above would mess your store up as it would assume your store is installed within /helpdeks. You want to add the following line:

Code: Select all

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/helpdesk
before your

Code: Select all

RewriteRule ^([^?]*) index.php?_route_=$1 [L,QSA]
line

Re: Emails are blank on Apple products.

Apple products are a little more fussy about the format they will receive and display in relation to the actual code of the e-mail/ A few things to try, firstly roll-back to one of the default templates to ensure that displays OK. If not then contact the extension owner and pass it over to them. If ...

Re: Captcha on contact us page

Your JPG isn't being served to the client correctly: http://baajeeaviation.com/index.php?rou ... ct/captcha.

I would hazzard a guess that something is outputting content before the image is being output as the first piece of content served is a line feed.
