Re: Copying over OC3.03.2 Customer Database to OC4.02.3/4.1 - some challenges to be aware of..
Yes, I think the 'salt' field should be kept in the oc_customer DB table, for backwards compatibility for old customer records which relied on the 'salt' field. The 'salt' field can be ignored for new customer account creations which uses a newer technique for hashed passwords. For more details, see...

Re: Remove standard OC modules?
The only way you could remove some of the standard modules is by disabling them first in the admin backend, and then to manually remove the files, e.g. admin/controller/extension/module/xxx.php admin/language/*/extension/module/xxx.php admin/model/extension/module/xxx.php admin/view/extension/module...

Re: To many redirects or to many request
You will find more details about mod_quos here: https://mod-qos.sourceforge.net/
But it's probably best to contact your webhost, give them some request URLs where this issue occurred, for them to look into it.

Re: Upgrading to 4.1 from 4.0.2.3, Error line 9
I use the stock theme, so it shouldn't be too hard. I have just changed some colors. The buttons in 4.1 look wrong on the category pages, so that needs to be fixed first. It should look like 4.0.2.3 The buttons on a OC 4.1.0.0 category page (List, Grid, Add to Cart, Add to Wish List, Compare this P...

Re: Products in subcategories only but that makes things a bit harder unless there is a trick re: google base feed
The best practice for Google Merchant Center is to assign each product both its main category (e.g., "Pool Cues") and its specific subcategory (e.g., "Joss"). This increases product visibility in both broader and more specific searches, improves targeting for ad campaigns, and h...

Re: Footer scrolling after updating to 4.1.0.0
I hope you didn't do it for a live site. Upgrades almost always cause issues, better to do a fresh install. Also bear in mind there are still a number of bugs, with bugfixes applied to the upcoming 4.1.0.1 release, so better to wait for the latter to be released. Or you can use OC 3.0.4.0 which is s...

Re: opencart images are all in landscape position
That's what I thought. What @nonnedelectari quoted simply doesn't exist in a standard OC 3.0.4.0, not sure where he gets it from.
But it seems you have installed some extensions from purpletree which may have modified the filemanager.

Re: Twig\Loader\FilesystemLoader" not found
Don't use the upgrade feature, it almost always fails. Besides, you haven't provided the exact details, see forum rules , such as exact OC versions. OC 4.0.2.3 is not stable enough for a live site, OC 4.1.0.0 still has a number of known bugs, too, wait until at least the upcoming 4.1.0.1. Or use OC ...

Question: How would you handle a scenario where multiple 3rd party extensions extend the same model or controller or library class, maybe even for the same method?

Found the issue, seems an overzealous tech put that error in my index to try and figure out why stack tracing wasn't working on this server, which they forgot to remove when they couldn't figure it out....which I eventually figured out and fixed myself smh. Glad to hear you managed to sort it out. ...

Re: Installation errors
The normal folder permissions are 755, and for files 644. If these don't work on your remote host then something is wrong with your Nginx configuration and you should ask your webhost to sort it out.
Or you could use an Apache server.
