Re: Installing OCMod extensions locally
Some of them only have an install.xml and the upload folder is empty. I tried #2 and 3 from your suggestion and that worked. It didn't give me a list of what I installed so I tried uploading the extension_name.ocmod.xml file using VQMod Manager and that also worked and it listed it. Thanks very much...

Installing OCMod extensions locally
Hi, I installed Opencart 3.03.8 locally on my pc using the latest Apache server (2.4.54) with no problems. When I try to use the installer to install an extension I get errors like below. A lot of these extensions only have an install.xml file but nothing in the upload folder. I've tried all the pos...

Re: Opencart site security
Two things that you can do. 1. Learn your server firewall and see what you can tweak. 2. You can purchase a web application firewall. Most of them are quite expensive but Ninja Firewall is affordable and it works quite well at stopping SQL injection and Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks. For persis...

Re: Mongoose web server vulnerability
I do agree with you that this is a possibility but unfortunately the ISP are only interested in looking at this if I sign up for a managed VPS at an expensive price. For the most part, I have managed it well except for situations that arise like this.

Re: Mongoose web server vulnerability
Hi and thanks for responding. Until today, I'd never even heard of the MongoDB. I do have WHM access and I couldn't see any Mongo DB. I ran this in Putty to see if it existed and no results were returned. rpm -qa|grep mongo So just to see, I tried uninstalling the MongoDB service and the result was ...

Re: opencart Version 2.3.0.2 hacked
You might want to try and add this firewall. It's only $40 USD/year
https://nintechnet.com/ninjafirewall/pro-edition/ (get the Pro+ Edition).
You can identify and block problem IP's. While nothing is perfect, it at least gives you another level of security.

Re: Running two versions of Opencart
I thought that it would have worked the same way between 2 sub-folders since they all have separate DB's.
Thanks for clearing this up.

Re: Running two versions of Opencart
What you say makes perfect sense but why would my live site at the root be OK with a copy that runs in a sub-folder?

Running two versions of Opencart
Hi everyone, I have my main website which is the live version and a copy of this website in a sub-directory with separate DB, users etc.. I've changed the .htaccess file RewriteBase accordingly. If I log onto my MAIN site and my TESTA site, there is no problem. If I create a new test website (TESTB)...

Re: OpenCart 3 not sending emails at checkout or registration, other emails work fine
If the previous post did not help and you are using WHM. Look in WHM: Home »Email »Mail Delivery Reports to see if it shows there. I've had issues with this in Opencart 2 and that at least proves whether Opencart is sending the confirmations or it's a server issue.

Sort Order for Categories
Hi, When the "Sort Order" is changed on the Category List page, where is number stored? I thought it was saved in the sort_order field in the category table but I don't see it there. I set all the rows in the sort_order field to 0 but I still see many on the Category List page that are not...

Re: My opencart security was compromised (please help!) Any
If you're using an Apache based server make sure you use an .htaccess file. I provided a link to get you started but do a search on this. http://www.thesitewizard.com/apache/prevent-directory-listing-htaccess.shtml Another thing to look at is a firewall. Here's one to look at - http://nintechnet.com...

Re: Extension creator asking for login details to my shop
It's not as difficult as you think. The whole thing takes about 15 minutes. If you create a sub-folder on your website then all the copying is done through cpanel which is quicker than even your pc. The instructions below is if you rename your admin folder otherwise you can skip that part. These are...

Re: Extension creator asking for login details to my shop
This is beyond being comfortable. You can be liable for legal problems associated with giving out the access and also lose the trust of your customers. What I do is clone my site and the database. All customer data is removed. The developer can test his changes and once it is completed, I apply thes...
