The same question I am wondering if this can be done using option instead of modifying the OC core. I am selling bulk food products, have created a base product price/lb and want to allow customer to specify the weight for e.g. 1.5, 2.75 etc. before adding to the cart. There are several option types...

Example:
Buy at $ 200 and $ 100 and get 1 free product!
Another example:
Buy Product No. 1 and No. 2 producer, and get the No. 3 free product!
