Thanks for that. I would not have known about the open cart database backup. My host does not have a control panel. The one I am think of transferring to does. They say they will do the transfer for me! But I still want to have a backup in case. And as you say we should have backups all the time any...

I am thinking of changing my website hosting company
So I want to do a backup first.
Is it just a question of going into my ftp program and downloading everything ?
Are there any tips or tricks ?

I am using the default template.
Do you think that the blue font used for Product Names looks a bit blurred ?
Any suggestions on how I could make it a bit sharper looking ?

Yes I agree that Opencart should push more of the best designed and successful sites made with Opencart. Prospective users (and me) don't have time to wade through hundreds of sites. Also I think that more basic options should be included in the basic Opencart rather than requiring extensions. Eg re...

My .htaccess file seems to have disappeared from my root directory.
I know I did have one, but to day I enable Google site maps and I have just noticed my my .htaccess is no longer there.

Reading this thread gave me a headache, there looked to be so many potential problems for what should be an easy Yes/No default option.
So I have installed CR2GridEnabler by cryoutcreations
It is working perfectly for me so far.
But I only have a basic default template.

I too would like to set my default views to Grid.
But after reading all of the above (and some other posts on this subject) i think I will leave it.
I will wait for Open cart to make a simple admin option Grid or List.
Hopefully in 1.6.
