Re: Is OC really Search Engine Friendly?

Wow! That is impressive Daniel. Guess the URL isn't all that important then. I downloaded and installed the Meta tag plugin for OC. Guess that will help more then the URL then.

Re: Is OC really Search Engine Friendly?

I think there's a few benefits in having human readable URLs though: - they appear highlighted/bold in the search results - they are easier to read for users (say if you run a print ad with URLs to products in your shop) Or, if you are advertising a certain product in a forum or on a site such as c...

Re: Why use OpenCart?

Yeah, that fly-to-basket is cool and good for the customer to see just where their order went.

On XHTML, if your don't serve your pages as application/xhtml+xml, then XHTML is useless. HTML 4.01 strict is the way to go.

Didn't know that, interesting.

Re: Why use OpenCart?

PS is friendly software, but bloated (in my humble opinion), just too many options and modules that aren't needed. I started with PrestaShop, built the store and tore it down, in favor of OC. Plus, PS is only XHTML traditional , where as OC is XHTML strict . I prefer scripts written in XHTML strict....

Is OC really Search Engine Friendly?

My "myBB" forum script has URL's that read: forum.com/lets-talk-about-opencart-ecommerce-script.html

I don't see this type of URL in OC. Any thoughts on OC being SEF?

Re: Not Receiving Email From Script

You need to use an email address from your HOST, not a webmail address like Yahoo or gMail, etc. Then OC emails just fine.

Re: Email Question

I figured it out folks! You need to use an email address from your host, DON'T use Yahoo or Gmail, etc. I tried those and it didn't work. I set up an email address from my hosting account and it works fine.

Email Question

Is OC supposed to email you when a new member signs up? I ask because I thought I was having a problem with PHP sendmail, but when I tested the "Send Mail" to customers, it worked. Still not receiving email when someone fills out the "Contact Us" form, or, when someone signs up. Only me being able t...

Not Receiving Email From Script

Any ideas why I am not receiving email from OC? I tried a test email from the "Contact Us" page. Also no email from testing the the "member sign-up" form.

Re: PHP error code at top of main page

I haven't seen anymore error codes since I started adding categories and uploading images. May have been just a small bug? OC is working correctly now.....

Re: PHP error code at top of main page

I did have a "hiccup" when uploading all the folders and files though, using FileZilla no less. Could it be a corrupted php file? I'm about to say the heck with it and re-install a fresh copy of OpenCart, using my favorite FTP, FireFTP. Never seem to have a problem when I use it.
