I was having the same problem and I think I found the solution.
Add a new layout in SYSTEM > DESGIN > LAYOUTS and rout it to common/home
I created a test and then from extensions Carousel or other modules I choose the layout I created and all back to normal.

I am having the same problem here, how can I delete all test orders from sales report?
I deleted all from sales > orders
But I still have information on Reports > Sales > Orders/Tax/Shipping
I want to delete all this information as was generated for test propose.
