template end tag?

During development of v2 the php script end tags were removed from the tpl files i.e. ?> This is fine and as it should be, they're superfluous and cause occasional white-space parsing errors. However, they were very useful for vqmod in modding to add content at the foot of a file. Something I've don...

jQuery & ajax

This is more of a general comment and need to look at. There are quite a few template files, particularly in the admin section, that use ajax to call cart urls for things like autocomplete. They are using the older success() function callback. This is deprecated from jquery 1.8 and will be removed i...

Re: Making ocmod;

Hi Jeff Seen your input into these over the last couple of weeks. Yes, hopefully "offset" & "index" will revert back to what they should be. Offset is particularly useful in mod placement. Would like to see better logging in the next version, the log tab output is a bit unintuitive atm, finding why ...

Re: Making ocmod;

Noticed you're using "offset" in the mod. In ocmod for v2.0.0.0 this is working the same way as index for vqmod i.e as an array indices NOT as a line offset. This is a current bone of contention between the vqmod devs & oc core devs and likely to be changed for the next OC version. You're looking fo...

Re: Undefined index: db_driver

Just curious about whether the pdo check will be adequate enough to check for whether pdo-mysql is also compiled?

But yes, MySQL & pref mysqli should be standard installs on any php supported host platform.

Re: Opencart 2.0 Extension Installer

Looks like it's been - or at least being - addressed... https://github.com/opencart/opencart/issues/1961 The patch seems to work for situations where ftp is being used. I'll have to test the localcopy mod on wamp to see if that bypasses the ftp problem. Still, needs to be integrated into core to cop...

Re: OpenCart 2.0 ISSUES Topic

Putting WAMP to one side, for the remote server it's normal hosting on my dedi box. FTP runs as normal & I have no issues with using any client ftp The no uploads at all can be changed to just no extension uploads. The other issues are due to existing issues with Internet Explorer which I think are ...

Re: OpenCart 2.0 ISSUES Topic

Uploads of ANY kind not working. v2.0.0.0 Testing an ocmod converted from vqmod. Tried the extension installer, browsed for the file & selected. Nothing happens. No messages. Nothing. Tried with an ocmod from the extensions on the main site. Same thing. Checked the server logs, nothing. Checked all ...

Re: Upgrade Process

I have to agree, and I've posted as much in the past when I upgraded from 1.1.8 to 1.2.x and then got flamed because the upgrade utterly broke the system because of the changes in the structure and because I suggested - as a developer - that this method was flawed at best. This is the only software ...

Re: Documentation Writers Required

Daniel Looking through the code it's nice and clean... but undocumented. Have you considered using PHPDoc? I know developers hate documentation, but using this at an early stage in the project can have benefits especially for an open project with multiple sub-developers where they need a package/cla...

Re: Payment Mod: Bank Transfer

I disagree. I think the first option would be better - and including sort code, and then tying the field structure to localisation in admin with required/non required options.

Instead of useless replies like that try adding a link if you've found one!

I was just following the admins 5 point upgrade, which should work for all upgrades.

dbbackup breaks upgrade path

I've just upgraded from 1.1.8 to 1.25 - or attempted to. The default install works fine, but importing the dbbackup breaks the shopfront with an error similar to http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3431 The problem is that the backup.sql the admin creates includes 'drop table' commands wh...

Re: OpenCart v1.2.5

Indeed. Unless you want a product abandoned by the masses and spiralling out of control an adequate changelog must be provided in the downloadable zip.

SVC is a developer tool NOT an end user tool. Normal users should not have to wade through code to see what's changed.

Re: Keeping track of all the changes...

Big letters! But the point he's making is somewhat valid. SVN is a developer tool not for the end user setting up or updating their online shop. It should be for the developer to take the svc changes and create the changelog in end-user format: files changed, sql file to run, functionality changes. ...

But this is now a joke. Now it is once again a new version of Opencart out without a description of the bug fixes or enhancements. Re: Here's a question

The key to it really is from similar experience to code the individual pages into mockups 1. decide on the wireframe structure that flows through all the pages 2. create mockups with 1 of the home/cart etc pages withy valid XHTML (strict if poss) 3. tidy up the code into relevent sections with div w...
