Sometimes a change is made that would cause a problem but the cache isn't cleared, so that problem only appears much later.

Most experienced developers would still recommend using the latest version of OC 3.

Correct, as long as the OpenCart version 4.x are not stable enough, I do not support them.

We are also waiting for the next release before updating too many of ours.
