Re: Will changing my hostname affect anything in Open Cart or its database?

I guess you can think about changing your hostname as changing your host. If you were to move your Open Cart site to another host, you would transfer all your files and database to that new host. But would you change anything else in the settings or any of the files?

If you used this hostname anywhere in settings, then apparently you need to update it.
Is there anywhere in the Open Cart settings where you would have had to enter your hostname?

Will changing my hostname affect anything in Open Cart or its database?

I got an email from GoDaddy saying that I need to change my legacy hostname from ip-50.63.202.40.ip.secureserver.net (that's an example) to the new hostname format which would be 40.202.63.50.host.secureserver.net (note the reversal of the IP octets). If I make this change, will it affect anything i...

Re: How can I delete a customer in the OpenCart admin panel?

Just select customer and click on a garbage icon. If I click on that garbage icon without selecting anything, it asks "Are you sure?" which makes me wonder, what does it think it's deleting, a customer or the entire customer list? That's why I'm hesitant to go through with it. If I don't ...

How can I delete a customer in the OpenCart admin panel?

How can I delete a customer account? I can't seem to find a way to do it in the OpenCart admin. Is the only way to do this through phpmyadmin and delete the customer manually? There's a red garbage can icon at the top right corner but I don't think that's for deleting individual accounts. Does anyon...

Re: How can I automatically set folder permissions to 755 and file permissions to 644?

When I'm uploading the thousands of the Open Cart files to a server, I want folders to have the default permission of 755 and files to have the default permission of 644. It used to do this automatically with FileZilla. However, after moving to a different server all the folders are being given a p...

Re: How can I automatically set folder permissions to 755 and file permissions to 644?

Can you please be more specific? Are you talking about using a program like Putty or Extra Putty? Can't this be done through the FTP program FileZilla or even through the server's settings in WHM or CPanel?

Re: Is it normal for the .htaccess file name to be changed to .htaccess.old

Actually, I recently changed my PHP version to 7.4, then back to 7.3. I'm reading that .htaccess is no longer used in PHP 7.4 so it's possible that could have changed the name as well.

Is it normal for the .htaccess file name to be changed to .htaccess.old

I noticed that my site backup from 3 months ago had a regular .htaccess file. When I checked today, the file name has been changed the .htaccess.old and I don't really want to open it. I can't even open it because of the .old extension. I've never had a file name changed before but this is a shared ...

Re: Help! Getting the fatal error "Impossible to write to binary log since BINLOG_FORMAT = STATEMENT

Is there any change in the mysqli.php code to make to make it work? Below the line: $this->connection->query("SET SQL_MODE = ''"); I tried adding: $this->connection->query("SET SESSION binlog_format = 'MIXED'"); but that still didn't fix it. Would it work if I reset the hosting a...

Re: Is it possible to extend the timeout period of outgoing emails from OpenCart?

Mail protocol is not safe. SMTP with TLS / SSL is rather recommended. When you say Mail protocol is not safe, what are some examples of harmful things that could happen? Does it make the site more prone to being hacked or is it a matter of the actual emails getting hacked? So do I have to put my em...

Re: Is it possible to extend the timeout period of outgoing emails from OpenCart?

By the way, what's the difference between using Mail and SMTP in the mail protocol setting? Mail will use the PHP mail function. This will likely be configured to send to the servers MTA (mail transfer agent). Mail is likely to be quicker as it's not likely to have to wait. The MTA will do that par...

Is it possible to extend the timeout period of outgoing emails from OpenCart?

Sometimes my outgoing mail is very slow to send. Sometimes it could take a few minutes before the email sends. This is likely an issue with the host. Whenever this happens, automated order confirmation emails sent to a customer after a purchase don't get sent. The emails sent to a customer after an ...
