Alternatively you can download the opencart provided zip, remove the stuff you don't want and set the root of the directory to match the root of your opencart web directory and rezip the cont...

Re: Web hosts. Who's good and who to avoid

For VPS I am using VPSVille. They have servers in Canada, US, UK. Seems like they made a few mistakes early but have addressed them in the past years. I have a VPS in Toronto and I can say it has been pretty solid since I joined and support have answered quickly when it has been needed. Managing you...

Re: Free v Commercial Add-ons

If you are using a free cart and are generating revenue then what is the problem with paying a few bucks for an extention? I generally try to not use extentions above and beyond what is bundled, but if I find something that will enhance the site it's a no-brainer to spend $20 or so (and I have spent...

Re: Opencart for high traffic or large business

Try this mod (free) Admin product filter by category - and include JAY6390's amendment a posting or two lower down. I use it, it's good. It should work on 1.4.9x. ----- Opencart has been used for large stores http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=18297#p90166 Thanks, when it becomes to...

>>10000 categories?<< I only have 7 and the lack of being able to sort products by category in the Admin panel is already a pain.

Re: [MOD] Categories on the front page

I too have had a request for this, as the front page (Featured items) are too diverse for a particular store. They felt it made the front page look messy. So.... Mods are fine for this but would it not just be simpler to use the HTML functions in System-->Setting-->Store-->Welcome Message and move a...

Filter Products by Category (Admin Catalog)

I am sure there is a mod out there somewhere but would be a nice "out of the box" feature.

Re: Feature Request: Automated Database Nightly Backup

I use this; http://www.dagondesign.com/articles/automatic-mysql-backup-script/ Then I wrote a bash script (called from cron) that also zips my website, encrypts the database output from the script and the website directory tree (with gpg) and emails it at 1:00am each night to an offsite email accoun...

Re: Paypal 1.4.9 Currency error

Eh.. no. This is not a 1.4.9.1 issue. This is simply because you are using a 1.4.8 template that doesn't follow the rules of templating Remove the pp_standard.tpl file from your custom theme and it will work fine. Thank you this answered my question as well. On that note, I am about to launch an on...
