The lack of integrated unit tests in OC hurts the quality image and is a common requirement these days especially when e-commerce software is mission-critical most of the times.

I'm not familiar with php testing frameworks (yet) but I can contribute to and audit the process of writing unit tests, examining code coverage etc.
The project will be open source (probably under MIT osl) and hosted on github and/or code.google, or whatever we decide upon. The suit should cover at least the core components and functions and the most common payment gateways. When the project matures there should be an interface to augment tests, that mods and plugins will use to provide the correct behavior of their changes.
