SEO URL's - 404 Not Found error ???

Hi Guys

I'm trying to turn on the SEO URL's in the settings, but every time I do the page fails to show and I get the below error message. As soon as I turn it off the page displays. Just trying to make my website more search engine friendly. Anyone one else had this??

"Not Found

The requested URL was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

I tried the first two ways with no joy but the link you posted (below) work so thanks, much appreciated!! Been struggling for months with this
