I understand after reading a number of posts that the OpenCart Wiki Documentation has been removed (meaning the OpenCart Wiki website wiki.opencart.com is no longer up or available to be seen) I understand that there are plans to incorporate the OpenCart Wiki Content in the documentation section of the main OpenCart website. I look forward to that.
In the meantime would it be possible to make the OpenCart wiki documentation available on the OpenCart wiki website again? There really was some good documentation on the original OpenCart wiki website wiki.opencart.com
Thank you.

I am totally supporting this initiative.
What I do not understand is why not keeping the information up anyway. What is the cost of it? There are free web hosting providers that will do it for some advertising if not for free. So, why not keeping it up while the new version is being prepared?
It just does not make sense to me.
Maybe there is a reason I do not know about, I would be happy to hear of it.

I think it is just absence of time atm.

Daniel,
Not necessary, I was really only looking for the step by step "how to" documentation for how to configure OpenCart if there is only 1 Shipping Option and 1 Payment Option. There was a good writeup on the OpenCart Wiki website. I ended up finding a printed out explanation that I printed from the OpenCart Wiki website. Thought I had lost my documentation. Everything is good.
Thank you for your reply.

Sorry to bump an old topic, but opencart not having a wiki/proper documentation for developers/enthusiasts/learners is something I find incredibly impractical. A lack of reference for developers, coding enthusiasts, and learners alike means they are left to their luck in forums when they hit a wall - which often turns out to be as unproductive, and time wasting(lots of coder-enthusiast seeking help/posting, and not receiving it).
Even in the event that one googles an issue they are having, and the opencart forum shows up, even if they find a post that relates to their issues, it is almost a 'next to nothing' chance that if it isn't simple to answer, or if the issue relates to a personal modification, that the user will get an answer to their issue.
Concerning those who would post in the forums about a personal modification issue; for the most part, were there access to full dev docs, it would likely negate their reason to post in the forums - helping the forums to maintain some kind of integrity.
I love attending forums where people are challenged to help someone else, simply for their excitement about the software, and for the teaching factor(like wordpress dev for example), but I do not always feel that same excitement here, and I can't help but put it down to the anomaly caused by the use of a forum-turned-marketplace platform for community-contributed support.
For this reason I find the opencart forum community incredibly bias, and therefore, mostly unhelpful(and considering the spike in the amount of opencart questions being posted outside of the forum, I can't be alone in this thinking).
There is an alarmingly high number of posts, regarding issues, both from long-standing members, and new ones alike, that have not received answers, which at most times completely negates the usefulness of the forums. I might also add, that for the most part, a higher number of these questions eventually break-down to a consensual lacking in the understanding of how opencart actually works in contrast with raw php, and how the system uses/defines/deploys variables/functions/classes, etc.
The forums are also difficult to navigate through mainly because a forum platform allows for members to post, and therefore the maintenance of integrity of those posts falls on moderators, and how much time, or patience they have with maintaining the forums integrity; And given the amount of posts, and having to determine their level of acceptability concerning posting rules, maintaining integrity here, I would imagine, would be no easy task.
I would LOVE to see opencart authors/owners, and its many developers team together to build full developers docs using community contribution on a wiki platform. Not only do I think it is a must for any open source/GPL project, but I think it will help to set the benchmark for where opencart will go in the future, as well as help to expose it to a new generation of developers.
