Hi :)
I am setting up my merchant account.. and was in chat with them.
I asked about the MD5 Hash and they said I needed to find out if my software needed it.
Does OC need it?
Thanks so much

Yes opencart uses the md5 hash value for Authorize.net AIM payment extension.

here you can see where the MD5 uses in Authorize.net for the payment method in AIM, CIM, SIM. see below images:-

Such wonderful help.. thank you!!!!

I contacted my authorize.net account people and they said that this extension isnt written by them and to make sure it was PCI compliant?
I thought the companies wrote the sensitive stuff lol.. like money handling etc.. it surprised me. Just being nosey but did paypal write the extensions or again it was written by opencart or other developers? :)

PCI will depend on a lot of factors one being your webhost, your company and how you handle data, etc. My company deals with authorize.net API's all the time and really the best authoirze.net option in my opinion right now is their Accept library. Since the default OC AIM module takes credit cards on site it can be tough and possibly expensive to get a PCI compliant site, especially on shared hosting with the AIM module.

We recently wrote a custom payment API for authorize.net to use their new AcceptJs library which helps to ease a lot of the PCI compliance. Its still however in development. You may want to look into authorize.net acceptJS.

I like what Braintree and Stripe are doing with their drop-in UI's, wish more merchants would follow what they are doing.

If unsure I wouldn't rely on posts here, but instead consult with outside security specialist to evaluate your website, etc.

I just finished working with authorize.net and my merchant account and somehow got it all working... would hate to have to explain it to someone though lol
Thank you very much :)
There is an order status with a drop down arrow, that is confusing me... for paypal I had to match each status ... had all of them.. and match completed to completed, pending to pending, etc.
But for authorize.net there is just one Order Status to match to the drop down fields?
I asked authorize.net what do I chose there and they said they didnt know and for me to ask Opencart lol
Thanks :)

Well, authorize.net AIM (assuming you are using AIM) just gives an approved / declined response. If authoirze.net approves the transaction the order proceeds, so assume this would be your processing/completed status. If it fails the transaction, an error is kicked backed to the user on checkout.

Unlike PayPal there are not multiple statuses, just one for approved.
