To all users to attempts to upgrade from v1.5x directly to the v3.x releases:
There seem to be more and more topics on the forum regarding a direct upgrade attempt from v1.5x releases to v3.x of Opencart. It is important to address and also to understand the results that will definitely create on your store. Take note there are no such nor official procedures to upgrade between those two versions directly. For users who still uses the v1.5x and wants to upgrade to a more recent version, it is first suggested to upgrade to the v2.x releases of Opencart before jumping ahead to v3.x releases with two of the following ways:
- To be an expert on troubleshooting the error events that requires attention so not to affect any users, customers and affiliates
- To hire a professional to complete the upgrade task between the releases
In both cases, always make a complete backup of your file server and database before attempting any upgrades on your store. Take note that these upgrades may require a mount of time before officially removing the store maintenance. Extensions must be completely disabled in order for your recent version to run normally. Also ensure that all downloaded extensions and themes are compatible with the current upgraded release of Opencart you are using.

Why are your directly contradicting the Opencart readme ?
Code: Select all
///////////////////////////////////////
/// OpenCart V1.5.x TO 3.0.x ///
/// Upgrade Instructions ///
/// http://www.opencart.com ///
///////////////////////////////////////
The upgrade between this magnitude is inaccurate. The database still flaws when running the upgrade process without the use of an extension or the process being done without professional work.

Well submit a pull request to get the OFFICIAL documentation changed
What a waste of time, our Chief in OC Command won't read it, and his surrounding is
affraid to make him angry. The matter has been mentioned here, since OC v.2.0 arrived,
but the only change was/is a new first image, displaying the latest (un-)upgradable Versions,
whenever a new Version arrives. (exept for the latest one's yet, as it looks...)
and everything else is still OC v.1.5.0 Upgrade Info to v.1.5.5.1 !
and even the 'complete' OC v.1.5.5.1 image link contains an unpro empty white space in it's title...
But as my father used to say, a great Mechanic is not automatically a great Seller too.

I did it before (for a previous version) and was told "It works"
So don't waste your time (even though I agree with what you are saying)
NO ONE is going to listen
Of course that is your opinion and your saying there. However, if no one were willing to listen, there would be no users to actually feel the need to seek for help on the forum.
