Checkout Redirect

Apologies if this has been reported before. I can find reference to it on the internet but no clear solution.

I am using OC 1.5.6.4 and have enabled SSL in settings. I have also modified the config files.

Yesterday I had no issues. Today a customer reported problems. At first I could not replicate but now I see the problem.

If I add products to my cart and try to checkout the page redirects back to the cart. This only happens when SSL is active.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

It's because the SSL certificate is not the same as your domain

Basically you are using what is called a shared SSL certificate.

Unfortuantely, this is no good for OpenCart as the domain needs to be the same for both non-SSL and SSL so that the cart cookie can be passed.

What is happening is that the cookie for the cart cannot be read when it hits the checkout and therefore OpenCart thinks the basket is empty and redirects back to the cart.

@uksitebuilder - I have same issue but with 2.1.0.1 version. I don't know if that made any different in this case. I want to clarify to your comment. Do you mean I can't have sub domain as SSL for checkout page only while rest pages on site is with non-SSL as primary domain? I did attempt change on config.php for https_server by replace http://www to https://secure. as sub domain. I noticed shopping cart that it does show issue appear once I click checkout button and it will become looping return to shopping cart. I wonder if is there any solution with this? I have SSL with another platform and I removed that platform and transfer to OpenCart and now, I can't use https://secure. That is why I have been looking for answer since my web host and freelancer web developer couldn't able figure out why it didn't redirect to sub domain. Please get back to me soon as possible. Thanks
