Most of the major eCommerce companies(including Amazon) offer a progress bar depicting the progress of an order. Like this(specifically for Amazon):

The Opencart order status page at customer's side is, well, outdated. Is there an extension providing a feature where a status bar can be configured by the admin.

Theoratically, IMO, it would work like this:

Admin sets various order steps in the extension, such as

1. Pending,
2. Processing
3. Ready to ship
4. Shipped
5. Delivered

The extension at front-end displays progress by calculating %age completion on the order page. E.g. if admin updates the order from pending to processing, it would get updated at front-end from 20% full to 40% full status bar.

Depending on the store needs, these 5 steps could be increased to 6 or whatever, or reduced as well. And the percentage is assigned depending on the number of steps, e.g. in case of 4 Order steps involved it would be 25% for each step.

I have little coding know-how, not to mention that I have a business to run, otherwise would have done it myself.

Is something like this available or possible in OC1.5 & 2x?

This is a nice one, for OC-1.5.x and OC 2.x, you can find it here, and it comes for free as well!
