Hi,

I am new to opencart. Just wonder can I do the multiple store like the link below
http://www.diapers.com/

Me and my wife running two separate opencart right now.
Thinking to merging this two shops into one domain.

My idea is when entering into main page it will showing both shops' items.
When clicking on the item, it will redirect them to either my or my wife store.

Both shops sharing same cart, payment method.

Can it be done?

Thanks

Managed to set this up OK as a add on to an already sub-domain. So where you said to just let it say public_html, I had to put public_html/mydomain. It goes to the new website fine. But I can't put it's own content on the homepage. ie Welcome message. There's no choice under the modules to add it to my second store. Added a category OK though.

Hello Friend,

I have a question, my current opencart is installed on cpanel on following directory.
/public_html/ODEAL.US
My domain name is odealus.

Now i want to add second domain, so what patch i should use for my second domain?
it will be like this /public_html/ODEAL.US/myseconddomain.com OR /public_html/myseconddomain.com ?

Please help.

Thank you

What if after 1-2 year of using multistore with 2 domains you like to switch between 1st store (default) to 2nd store - so now 2nd store will be the default.
can it be done w/o making a mess?

Hi all,

I've been toying with using multi-store for a long time but think I really need to now. I tried doing it in Plesk but gave up. I have a cPanel now :)

What I would like to achieve is this:

I need to set up a vehicle dealership website. On maindealersite.com all products are added and then pushed out to the relevant dealer sites that stock that vehicle. Each dealer site is on a completely different domain. Most of the dealer sites will be POA too and I have been working with a mod author on that issue.

Then it gets a bit complicated.... Some of the dealer sites will also want to sell products e.g. parts. They need to be able to add their own products and have them only appear on their own dealer site. They still need to have the POA vehicles on the site too.

And they need to be able to get paid directly via PayPal or their merchant for what they sell themselves. Plus each domain needs a SSL cert.

I want to do all of this using 2.0. From what I've read in the thread I am worried this may not be possible ???

Hi,

Thanks for the guide to set up this, but i`m stuck at the last step. i have created the new store but it could not be access. this is the error:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

does anyone know what is this about. and what should i do to fix this.

Thanks.

That's it! After you have completed these steps then your 2nd store should show up with it's own front end but same back end. You can use whatever theme you want for your front end. You can also go into your products and categories and assign them to each and every shop that you have set up. For example you can set Product A to only show in shop 1 and Product B to only show up in Shop 2 and so on.

Again, it's a really cool feature and not at all hard to set up and manage. It's great if you're selling goods from the same stockpile but you'd like to target different niches of customers and offer specific products to them.

Thanks again to all the devs of OpenCart! You really do make it an amazing cart!

Peace

This is a very comprehensive and quick tutorial to setup multi stores. Thanks! I have few serious concerns.

No.1: In terms of SEO, dont you think that google may consider your sub-domain or different domain contents as duplicate contents which could hurt your SEO ranking? Or it might be a good SEO trick as you could have more crawled pages?

No.2: If we have multiple domains, do you thing that there will be multiple database in backend and you might need more space on server to run multiple stores, or one database will be working with two front ends and showing selective products or categories? As i am running at edge on shared server so wonder if i have to move up.

Would like to hear your thoughts everyone!

The same database runs as many stores as you want. I have 23 at present all running from one opencart installation (1 database). You do want to make sure you have a good hosting account and VPS is always recommended if you have a lot of products.

I have not had any issues with duplicate content though my stores don't share all the same products and I use an extension called "multistore product text" to let me do seperate descriptions, meta data, titles for each store (though honestly, have only done this on a few products to date). The main goal is to NOT use the manufacturers descriptions everyone else selling those products uses but to write your own or at the least augment the manufacturers descriptions.

You might want to read thru an seo and opencart thread I started a while back http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=80716

Running Opencart v3.0.3.2 with multi-stores and the default template from https://www.labeshops.com which has links to all my stores.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. Surely will give it a try as its very powerful tool from OC as i want to customize my stores for each language. Do you have any idea as how we limit each store by one language. For example my main store should be in English while store B should show only Chinese, Store C only French like that? If you have any idea, will be great and thanks!

You could set the default language for each store in settings and remove the language chooser from the header file so your customers cannot change it to a different one.

Hello, guys i started an opencart multi-site feature, i have an problem..

2 stores i have, default store and yaser store
default store working fine with 22000 items, :'(
steps adding the second store:
-The default store is at compareandbuy.me/store
1) sub-domain created (yaser.compareandbuy.me) pointed to http://www.compareandbuy.me/store
2) adding new store at system-> settings -> +add store
- store URL: http://yaser.compareandbuy.me/
- SSL URL: http://yaser.compareandbuy.me/
- Meta Title: Yaser super market
- Template: shopme (same as default store)
- Default Layout: Default (same as default store) - i tried to copy the layout and make a new one, same thing
3) when i go to layouts and edit the default layout, added the second store with name of yaser store and route is common/home

the problem:
default store works like charm, second store opens correct but like having no css no theme at all (row data)
when i remove the "/" at the end of Store URL from second store it opens the default store but without any icons like arrows and cart icon .. etc

default store: http://compareandbuy.me
Second store: http://yaser.compareandbuy.me

please help.. :'( 4 months developing and entering up to 22000 items, and it is a must to add several stores.

Regards

there is no such thing as an SSL URL, working as HTTP://---
- SSL URL: http://yaser.compareandbuy.me/

I would post such in the commercial Section here, so, at least, you'll have a good chance to get it to work.
And since you offer 22K of products, Pro Support would sure not break your budget! :D
Good Luck!

So shopme is a copy of the default them in a different folder? If so, edit it's common/header.tpl template and find all instances of /default/ and replace them with /shopme/ or whatever the template folder for that store is named.

And you need to have the ending / for the url in settings, so be sure it is there.

thanks for reply

well, actually SHOPME is a new installed theme, the default theme is already exist too, but the problem i am facing is the links at config, i don't know why, i have to add full link to the specific location such as
define('DIR_SYSTEM', '/home/compareme/public_html/store/system/');
if i just added define('DIR_SYSTEM', '/system/'); errors at both stores:
Warning: require_once(/system/engine/action.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/compare5/public_html/store/vqmod/vqcache/vq2-system_startup.php on line 116
and
Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/system/engine/action.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php56/pear') in /home/compare5/public_html/store/vqmod/vqcache/vq2-system_startup.php on line 116

i dont know why i have to add /store while opencart installed inside the store folder ??
