Shipping Set Up

Postby jason_class » Tue Aug 18, 2009 4:09 pm

Hi All

Kindly advise the right method to set up weight based shipping for at least 5 countries.
After the newly installation of the store, I found the default shipping choice is free shipping.
Initially the shipping is only for UK. I added in Singapore and Japan just to try out(under Localisation-Geo Zone).
Then I enabled weight based option in shipping setting.

However when I tested on the store, I see that no shipping option appears after I click check out of the shopping cart.
Can anyone advise what is the right way to set such option? Should there be any special initial or code I need to add under Geo Zone, Zone or Country?
For example, I should only add in SINGAPORE in GEO ZONE or all the Zone and Country setting? Should I use special symbol like SGP stands for Singapore. I used full name Singapore as the symbol

Or if you have any good tutorial for reference on how to understand the relationships and setting for Geo, Country, Geozone and Shipping in order to set up the right way for shipment, kindly refer me to or advise the appropriate method

Thanks

Jason

Basically the GeoZone is a title.. whatever you want to call it
You assign countries and zones (states, provinces, whatever) to a geozone
Then you assign that geozone to the shipping

So if you want Shipping to Singapore and all its zones you'd create a geozone called "Singapore Shipping Zone"
Then assign all the countries & zones you want to be part of this geozone
if the customer's address of country and zone match this zone, they will see the option during checkout. But be sure you have the zone rates setup high enough.

If you have a zone set for 2:5.00, 5:10.00, 15:15.00 that means that if a product weighs more than 15, the customer won't see it.

Hi Qphoria

Thanks alot for the help.
I have not set full info about the weight details for my item, so I remove the weight based shipping.
I proceed to flat rate. I created for Singapore Geozone. In the country, and zone, I did nothing as by default, I see that there are full list of countries and zones, thus I do not need to add anything. Unless, it is true that Singapore by default is not in the list, then I have to add it in. What is the ISO code(2 and 3) for Singapore, no rules for any symbol key in?

Since going thru each zone to check if I have Singapore zone in the default list can be time consuming, I did not check. I proceed to use flat rate setting for Singapore. It did not work. But if I change setting to all zone, it works.
Any idea what is wrong? Singapore is not in the default country and zone list?
If true, where can I refer to the ISO code for every country

Thanks
Jason

Flatrate only applies to a single geozone. A single geozone can be either a single country and single zone or a single country with all zones.

If you want a flat-rate style for different zones you can follow this example:
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5578&p=26631#p26582

For Singapore, I'm not sure .. if its a country then you can set the geozone to use "All zones" which will include all the zones inside that list. Then set that geozone in the flat rate module
