AyelShop - Before I Voice my Opinion

Postby DigitariaGlobal » Wed Feb 08, 2012 11:43 am

Greetings friends from the OS Galaxy, (by the way OS use to stand for Operating System I knew one day I would get the better of my Lecturers who didn't believe in these type of projects and always tried to prepare me to be a slave for blue chip companies. _OS I AM FREE! )

Just got up tired and that cup of tea, well you can see from my salutation what the sugar did? Forgive the spelling mistakes. I spent last night trying to get a joomla module to work. Now you are starting to get warm with me, right? Well, bare with me I am about to talk OpenCart.

Can anyone confirm is Daniel or any member of the development team (mainly Daniel) is getting any commission or any type of income from Ayelshop?

I know OC is free, but this extension is blowing Joomla up, hot! hot! hot! I was so shocked when I came across it last night, while creating a solution. Why was I shocked? Well, it is Open Cart without the sample database and little bits of minor trimmings! Is this really acceptable in the OS Galaxy? I checked their site and there is no reference to "The Daniel", whom I feel has made this great, sexy, shopping number possible, so, I just wondered if it was another of his projects. I think it is worth every penny/cent these guys at AyelShop is asking for.

I suggested once many moons ago, about 2yrs ago that Daniel should charge similar price for his software because it is top draw + the support is good for a free software. I also feel that the free OS Galaxy is more suited for users with some intermediate to advance skills in programming (HTML, Javascript, PhP etc.) web base technology. I remember waiting up for version 1.4 to be released and I am sure I was the first to download and try it :-\ , I wish :drunk: ! There were others hungry OS Galaxians that beat me to it, sadly for me he uploaded it while was grapping a coffee and a snack. Oh well tough.

So guys let me know it there are any business links between these - AyelShop and OC.

If there is then well done again Daniel and the crew. AyelShop has just murdered VirtueMart with the numero uno OS shopping Cart OpenCart.

Now I am going back to sleep I can't function. Postman woke me up. Coffee is making my heart feel funny so no more or it could be the coffeeMate.

Kind Regards
OS - I AMD FREE!!

*cough* ... don't underestimate VM2 power ;) I use both OC, VM 1.1 and lately VM 2.
VM2 currently issues are "youth" related however at this pace you can expect to be stable software very soon.
That said, VM + J2.5! offer a rich range of features and of course are much more resource intensive on the server than OC.

Ayelshop is not an official opencart port so the OpenCart Team has no affiliation with it. Only the version on OpenCart.com

I'd like to point out that, in my experience, AyelShop has issues with some extensions. It (necessarily) has to modify some of the core OpenCart files, and this can affect mods. They may say it doesn't, but it does.

If the main purpose of your site is to sell goods, you should make OpenCart (and not Joomla) the base software for driving your site.

True. I've also had an experience with couple of my customers who use it, and yes, there's a need to make some adjustments to the modules, in order to be able to work with it.

So if someone bought the extension from opencart.com the OC developer gains something? Just wanted to know because as a user of OC I would like to support the developer as much as possible.

The main aim isn't always to sell products, I agree with you that if that is the case OC is the proper choice. However, my needs depends on my clients requirements so I am always looking for the best rapid solution.

OpenCart (i.e. Daniel) gets 20% of the revenue of extensions purchased through the opencart.com extension store, so buying through there helps support OpenCart and its development.
