Hi guys

Maybe one of you peeps out there with some insight can help me.

Basically i submitted a sitemap to google over a week ago, with about 29,000 pages to be indexed.

Webmaster tools is still showing the index count as "Pending" and 0 for urls in web index.

I thought at least the status should update to ok, even if the pages hadnt been indexed yet, i am stumped as to the issue.

I have used xml sitemap validators and they all tell me its written correctly, with the correct xml scheme info and all the tags are fine.

Does anyone know whether it could take over a week to index a sitemap with over 29,000 urls or is there an issue here?

You should have some pages indexed. Google Webmasters is behind by 3 days - Take a look at the dates that it gives you on the page.

To see if anything has been indexed, go to google.com and type in site:www.yourdomain.com and see what is listed. Any pages listed are indexed. Webmasters is kind of frustrating because it isn't always up to date.

Your url will get indexed only if the content is relevant to google. If your website really have 29,000 and the content is not auto-generated, google will come to you instead.
