A site i've been working on for several months.
Not quite complete yet, minor visual tweaks need carrying out here and there.
Thanks to ReadyMan, Qphoria and myself for some of the modifications and of course Daniel, for the incredible framework.

I'll keep it short.
It's absolutely stunning!
Doesn't look like it needs any tweaks: it's superb. Well done to you.

It will be difficult for me to separate out now as I didn't save the code changes as a mod.

The crux of it is in this thread and this was a great starter;
http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php ... 76&start=0

There are a few steps that need to be taken;
You need to add the code that displays modules into the catalog/controller/common/header.php
You need to add the option into the admin module screen, so that you can select the header as a position
You then need to style the cart with CSS and decide what it needs to show in the catalog/controller/module/cart.php and catalog/view/module/cart.tpl.
You will also need to match the code in the callback function in the controller with the code in your view file.

Hopefully that will set you on your way.

Regards, Spike.

Firstly, Spike, great shop. Really fantastic. Some great work has gone into it and you should be proud. I might steal a few of your ideas. ;)

Secondly, Jezd, I have an alternative method of adding a cart in the header. I needed it for my shop http://scarletandjones.com. The great thing is it doesn't really involve editing any source code. It's basically an adaptation of Peterban's solution here: http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=14764.

I've posted a blog entry on how to do it here: http://craigmurray.me.uk/opencart-mods/ ... -opencart/

Hope that helps.

Your website is one piece of art. It's really inspiring to see so beautiful and professionally done OpenCart websites.
If you don't mind, could you share on private message where did you get the template from or maybe you used a design company.
Thank you so much in advance :))

I made the template myself :)

Good going, I am not saying it's perfect. You know, there's always a chance of improvement. Point is you are following basics. At least, I got some handful ideas for Paper Storage page. Cheers.

Hi,

I think you site looks fantastic. I am in process of creating a home decor site in Canada and have been spending the day and evening looking at forums for bridging/connecting Opencart and Blogging(word press). I have uploaded the most current version of 1.5.1x.

I just happened across the Live Shops section to see how other people have created their sites and low and behold your site does what I would like to do on mine. I read that you created it yourself. Do you mind if I ask which program you used for the blogging and how you went about bridging them together.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The blog site is created through Wordpress.

There is a script that pulls and formats an XML feed generated by Wordpress and displays on the front page.

I'm off to work in a few minutes, but I'll see if I can dig out the code when I get home this evening.

Regards, Spike.

Hi Spike,

Nice looking site I must say and it is good to see a custom site (printing) rather than a standard online shop being done with OpenCart.

One thing though, your Visa logo is out of date. You might want to look at updating it and possibly adding the 'Verified by Visa' and 'MasterCard SecureCode' logos if you are having 3D Secure protection.

Thanks,

Simon

Just a thought - but it looks like the "History" and "Love2Print" in the footer have the opposing information under each of those headings.

Other than the above (and pardon me if I got the wrong end of the stick) - It is a beautiful and welcoming website.

cheers

Fantastic design I really love the nine small rectangles under the main image, the clean lines and how you've photographed all the products on a white background really embeds them into the window. Very impressive ;D

The only (slight) criticism is the green and the pink together don't work for me, the pink looks great but the green seems to clash. But I may be the minority

The 3 column footer is also damn fine looking, superb job.

how did you do the 9-rectangle grid on the home page?

is that hard-coded?

Thanks :)

The homepage is hard coded into the home.tpl file.

Got to be honest, the wife picked the colour scheme and. I'm definitely more of a developer than a designer. The green is used to define the header from the content, she tried it as all pinks, but the page seemed to merge into one block of pink.

She's got me working on upgrading to v1.5 now, so I'm reprogramming all the mods and making VQMod files for them all, which is a lot easier than the hard coded mods I currently have in v1.4.

I can imagine it being all pinks would make the menu merge with the rest of the content.

I'm working on a 1.4 site right now, and had everything working just nice with my custom template. Before launch thought I'll get it up to date and notch up to 1.5 :o it tore my template to shreds lol.

That's one hell of an upgrade, it seems like a completely different structure all together!
The modules and layouts etc seem very complicated but in turn you can get so much more flexibility out of them.

I'm going to have to go back to 1.4 and launch then as you've done theme and figure out 1.5.

You program your own mods, impressive :) still a rookie here grappling with html and CSS, when making my theme I carefully trod around the PHP trying not to disturb it ;)
