This extension improves upon the default Weight Based Shipping method, allowing you to utilize both regular weight-based rates as well as weight-based formulas. This is useful when you need to calculate per-unit rates, such as charging $X.XX per pound; this can be used to set simple individual product shipping costs, by charging $0.01 per 0.01 unit of weight. Additional improvements compared to the default module include:

Upload and go — modifies no core files.
Take advantage of the easy-to-use admin panel interface, with the ability to directly edit all front-end language text. Examples of how to set up shipping rates are also included right in the admin panel.
Restrict the shipping method from appearing based on store, currency, customer group and geo zone.
Set the shipping charge as a flat rate or as a percentage of the sub-total, taxed sub-total, or total.
Utilize 0.00 costs to give Free Shipping once a specific bracket is reached.
Choose to have the final charge be the highest cost bracket reached, or the cumulative total of all brackets reached.
Adjust the final cost by setting additional, minimum, and/or maximum values, or round it to a nearest value of your choosing.
Enter cost brackets all at once by pasting data directly from a spreadsheet application.
